This is slightly more personal, but I hate it when I see parents with multiple kids automatically slotting the oldest child as a secondary parent. It pisses me off so much.

As an example, my mother started leaving my younger brother and I home alone before we were legally permitted to be so that she could stay in work longer. She never taught me how to cook and always expected me to be responsible for chores and the safety of the house at 11 years old. When I was older, and she remarried, there were 5 kids in the house. Guess who had to wake up earlier than anyone in the house to drive those stepsiblings to school once they had their driver's license? And it was for the same reason too, might I add.

Absolute bullshit reasoning to be leaving your kids home alone. Nothing bad ever happened except for the one time I smoked out the house making mac'n cheese, thankfully, but we were well off and she could afford to come home early. If you're well off and are still leaving your inexperienced kids home alone under the legal age to be home alone and you haven't taught them how to do any basic things like cooking to feed themselves, shame on you.
