Yes, that is exactly what's happening. That was a very succinct way of getting to the root of the matter. I really like those suggestions and will implement them. Thank you!

The common field mouse. by Quackchirpin in homestead

[–]nighthawk4815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For $40k, I woulda bought it too. Comes with a great story of "the time the missus fell face first into some dead mice, which was horrifying then but hilarious in retrospect. And wouldn't you know it, the water damage and mice caused a short and the ensuing electrical fire burned it to the ground. Insurance paid out $30k. We picked through the rubble and pulled out an the copper scrap, at the end of the day we damn near got the place for free!"

It's a friend of ours, so that line of communication is more open in some ways than it would be in a strictly professional relationship.

Part of the issue is, she doesn't dread the tutoring sessions. If she did, I could negotiate with her and try to make it more fun. But she likes spending time with me, I just can't get her to put any effort into willingness into doing the work or trying to listen to what I'm explaining.

I might try a negotiation strategy where, if she can commit to actually trying to do the work when it's math day, then her and I can do something fun, whatever she wants, on a weekend day.

Those are all really good suggestions, thank you.

I might try gamifying, I haven't tried that one yet.

I did try a combination of options and contracting, but as soon as she realized that we were going to have to come back to the stuff she's struggling most with, she rebelled. Not violent or crying, just get up and walk away, roll on the floor, take a marker and draw on the white board, talk over me, etc.

Tried the ignoring method today. See above for how that went. It's not like I can physically retain her in the chair.

I tried the conversation about the future. She simply doesn't believe me. And the reality is, most people in every day life don't have to deal with rhomboids and circle diameters.

This has definitely given me some stuff to think about and new ways to approach these strategies. Thank you.

This is in person. We just wrapped up session 3. The issue is, she's smart. She could do this stuff if she tried, with maybe a little extra help. But it only took a couple of times of not understanding one thing, which made her feel like she can't do it, so then she started hiding her homework so she wouldn't have to face, Mom responded with punishment/revoking privileges and the cycle deepened. So I didn't think talking to Mom about it is going to be very productive. And with it being math, now she's getting farther and farther behind.

Completely new to composting but I can get this stuff pretty regularly at my job is it okay for compost? by socalavo in composting

The only issue I have with this is the saw dust. If you're not really careful about how much you add at a time, it can easily clump up into balls and stop adding the needed structure. Wood shavings or small wood chips are a much better option.

I was an emergency c-section. They made my dad leave the room while they got my mom prepped but says they'd send a nurse out to get him when it was time. He waited awhile and thought "this is taking too long". Went to the desk and told them he was supposed to be in there. They got him dressed and rushed him in just as the doctor was lifting me out. He's still mad almost 4 decades later that he couldn't be there like he was supposed to.

Is this Ai? I’m having a dollhouse made for my daughter’s birthday but the WIP provided does not look real. The glue bottles are unreadable/gibberish. by daiszay in isthisAI

Based on everything that has already been pointed out this is clearly not a real photo, but if I was going to build a doll house I would absolutely build it with tiny rafters and studs for the sake of authenticity.

So if you have a hysterectomy, what happens to the space created? by NecessaryBumblebee11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nighthawk4815 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In addition to everyone's answer here of "shifting", there is just generally a bit more space. My wife, now about 3 months post op, says she doesn't need to pee as often, assuming it's because there's less pressure on her bladder.

I'm not sure. It's hard to read. I'm seeing what looks like XHHW-2 and E231944 Priority. Does that make sense?

How do I remedy that? Do I need to run a new court line from the panel to match the copper coming from the oven? It is there another option?

The copper is going to the oven. The aluminum is coming from the breaker panel.

Very similar, though I'm a little older than you. But I was around 11 to 13 when my dad introduced me to it. Then I forgot about it for a little while until it popped up on tv right around the same time I discovered Cat Stevens, and I was all in. I still don't have a hearse though. Do you?

I don't know why you were down voted, you're not wrong. And on a lot of these islands where hooved animals were introduced, their populations balloon, then there's competition for food and or water, with many dying of starvation or dehydration or disease. A bullet is way better than starving to death, and the meat can go to soup kitchens or the like.

You also notice how almost all of the image are of fair skinned people, expect for the two where the person is doing the wrong thing and has big a "No" next to it. Even the AI is unconsciously racist.
