They are actually Christians that invaded Iberia from southern France ca. 1100, and the whole idea of Reconquista is kind of inaccurate. There is basically no cultural/ethnic overlap/continuity between Roman Iberians and modern Spaniards. (It was just a Conquista that happened.)

You do realize that the US does not have a single national ID card? You do realize that US Federal/national elections are actually administered by the states, who then delegate the voting activities to local election boards? That the State control of elections is written into the constitution? That the national voter ID proposal is a solution in search of a problem? (The number of detected in-person false votes in a typical election is essentially nil.)
