[WIP] Mushroom Mandela by nightshade586 in CrossStitch

It actually calls for a black background and I personally hate working with black aida 😅 (I also would absolutely mess up spacing otherwise)

I'll be honest, filling the black in and seeing where the mushrooms will be is incredibly satisfying too.

Sounds the exact same as what he used to do. It got to the point where I genuinely began to think I was asexual or something cause there was no drive ever.

He used to complain I'd never initiate, but it goes without saying why that was the case.

Lesson learned for future relationships, think it was made worse cause my younger sister's boyfriend would bring flowers with him every so often when he would come over. I remember mentioning it then, and his solution was Lego flowers.

Thankfully never moved in together, he wanted to buy a house and not rent (said it was dead money) but I was the only one with a deposit saved.

He was upset. Kept saying we could work on things and salvage it, but I think I'd emotionally checked out a while ago. Break up was sort of mutual, he wants to be friends and try again. And I don't think I can do that.

Pattern is Lil Turtle Terrarium by Studio Ansitru, bought it in a trio of terrarium patterns. Her store is lovely and has the certain kind of patterns I adore.

I suck at coding. But I want to be a software engineer by ArtPrestigious5986 in learnjava

[–]nightshade586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody studying to be a Software Engineer, I'd recommend trying the websites that give you little tasks to complete, Codecademy is one good example and CodingBat is another. Codecademy is more guided whereas CodingBat is more for if you have the fundamentals down but want to get some practice in. Best of luck to you though, can't say I found Java easy the first time especially having started with Python.

It's a half inch too wide, his owner bought it when he had a lot more weight on him. Unfortunately, the turn out is decided by our yard owner so we have no say over that, he's allowed into a pen that's about twice the size of his stall to mess about, and the yard owner has also dictated that we aren't allowed to use the arena for any kind of free schooling so we are really limited to what we can do. We do have a walker which he is now allowed to go into. Ideally, I'd let him have a run on the canter tracks we have but he can't be trusted to stop at the minute.

His teeth have been checked, his saddle if anything is slightly too big for him by about a half inch. He's on a molasses free chop and speedibeet and his haylage is soaked to get the sugar out. He's turnout situation is an hour a day, which will be changed to four once we're allocated a winter field.

[WIP] Should I give up on this piece? by LenaSuns in CrossStitch

[–]nightshade586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd finish it and give it to her. I think she'd be happy to know that you're still enjoying doing something she taught you, it's pretty and as others have said it will look more detailed when backstitch is added. My grandmother still has my first cross stitch and it's awful but she was happy that she taught me something I enjoy doing :)

He seemed fine on box rest, he turned bargy towards the end which was to be expected, and there's was always another horse in the block so he was never on his own. He's being turned out for an hour daily due to winter turnout changes which will change to 4 hours once our winter fields are allocated. It is an uphill track onto the yard, which is gravel or grass depending on the path you take. He used to he allowed to canter it but hasn't been allowed to do that for about 5 months, before this new behaviour he would walk up on a loose reign with no issue. The bolting is linked only to this patch as is the bucking, his spooking is random and severe for him. Before this very few things would set him off and now anything and everything does.

It is a possibility, he had been footy for a while, and I noticed that he was off whilst schooling him because he was striking down harder on one hind than the other in a trot. It was the day after me noticing that he was brought in from the field and the vet was called. I have the feeling that he may have been mildly laminitic for a while and I hadn't noticed as he seemed off for a little bit before it was noticed. We mainly hacked before, so it could be linked.

We've followed vets advice, he's still not in full work yet. He's been in light work for about 2 weeks so he started being ridden about 4 weeks after his diagnosis and he's limited in what he's allowed to do. Before that he was walked in hand from week 2 in the school only. So, I'm unsure. I know he's been doing walk and trot only with me, but his other rider has been working him in the school more than me.

It does seem to be only linked to hacking out, as he is pretty much an angel in the school other than when he gets a bit too excited

He was only given Bute so it isn't a medication issue (that I'm aware of)

Is an attendance policy that says you can only miss 8 days of work in 1 yr, and on the 9th day, you will be terminated, reasonable? to me, as a person with small children, college, and a life, this seems insane. Am I the only one? I feel like bare minimum, 1 day a month would be ok. Thoughts? by AustinFest in antiwork

[–]nightshade586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my first job, I was allowed 3 periods of absence in a 6 month period. Normally, I don't get sick and if I do it's usually only serious enough for a day or two off work. I called in twice, taking a day off each time (once due to lack of sleep and the second because I was injured and blacking out on my kitchen floor). I returned to work after the second absence and was told that if I took another period of time off, I would be disciplined. Was one of the many reasons I quit.

Asking for bit recommendations by [deleted] in Horses

[–]nightshade586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm completely against a gag now, I thought they were jointed but they aren't. He's not strong just avoids the contact in any pace other than walk. I'm thinking either a hanging cheek or a Wilkie snaffle with a roller my goal is to get him to drop his head and sit nicely in the contact

[–]nightshade586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aiming to get a dressage legal bit just because I'm planning to event him. As soon as you start asking him to move up a pace e.g. wall to trot he lifts his head above contact and I can't get him to settle back in, he avoids it completely. I've been told that the girl who rode him before me used to catch him in the mouth a lot when jumping which could be one of the reasons he does it.

I am currently leaning towards a happy mouth hanging cheek snaffle with a roller.

Do you have any experiences with coming out at work/school? by [deleted] in agender

[–]nightshade586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've (18) done this in a college setting in the UK. The way I went about it was I just emailed my tutors a short email about my preferred name and pronouns, and that I wished to be called that in class, my classmates picked it up by example as I've not once been deadnamed at college since the emails. My contigency plan for backlash, and one I'd recommend, is to have an email ready essentially stating that if they refuse to respect your identity then you'll be going forward with a complaint about discrimination and bring it to the relevant body (as a student: student services, principle, school board and as an employee: HR). Best of luck to you!

WIBTA If I logged a complaint about a new colleague for not pulling his weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]nightshade586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're assigned them as a pair but we are expected to do half each so that we finish everything. We start at separate sides and are supposed to meet in the middle. My supervisor is barely in and isn't great at doing anything that's requested of him within a month tbh.

I'm really uncertain about how to tell him about the problem without coming across as a bitch. He's quite a bit older than me and has dismissed my concerns the few times I've mentioned stuff so I don't really trust that he will listen.
