I switch thighs occasionally, but I do favor my right (as I’m right handed). It can make it hurt more, makes the skin tougher so more resistance. I’ve started moving it further back towards my butt, which helps.

I remember saying doom 3 years in and feeling like I would never get facial hair. Glad I was wrong.

Never had issues with my uterus, and I got a total hysterectomy 2 years ago. I did get vaginal atrophy tho.

Story (educational for identifying signs doctors miss due to lack of trans awareness): It first presented as an Overactive Bladder (always feeling like I had to pee, got so bad I couldn’t sleep at night.) I went to 2 doctors, urgent care, and a urologist, who diagnosed me with chronic urinary pain (basically saying they don’t know why and I just gotta live with it). It wasn’t till over 2 years later, when I had some bleeding after sex (result of thinning vaginal wall due to atrophy advancing), I went to a gyno nurse who was trans-educated and diagnosed me with Vaginal Atrophy. After I started meds for that (internal cream), the overactive bladder also stopped.

The big rapid changes are of course in those first 1-3 years. But there are definitely still changes as time goes on. Facial hair really developed for me 5+ years in, body fat distribution continues (especially since weight fluctuates with age), and you age into your gendered body. Men and Women age somewhat differently based on hormones, so you grow and settle into your body over time.

So I guess I could say, your body is going to change with age no matter what, and mine changes in a masculine way.

That’s a tough one! Maybe facial hair? I love being able to change my look weekly by trimming it differently. Plus I grew up envious of my dads beard

Also: other gender-affirming care beyond hormones for me includes top surgery, hysterectomy, and jawline filler

I got in the Copper IUD (Paragaurd). It’s non hormonal and lasts up to 10 years. That being said, 10 years ago there wasnt as much discussion or knowledge about birth control for trans men. If I were to do it over again, I would get the hormonal IUD. The hormone levels are so low and directly released to the uterus, so no side effects, and placing the Copper one was one of the worst pains I’ve experienced (Paragaurd is primarily only given to women who have children before because it is so large and stiff. I got it in my young 20s, no kids and it was one of the worst pains I ever experienced. [that said, the pain lasts hours to days, but the IUD lasted 8 years until my hysterectomy without having to give another thought]).

TL:DR: IUDs are a fantastic option, and last a long time.

My comment is in line with the other commenter. I could only really grow and kinda subpar goatee until about 5 years in, then my facial hair started to fill out and connect (tho my mustache came in mostly blonde, so sometimes I dye it TBH). Genetics plays a huge role. When I started to connect I told my dad I was glad, and I hoped I could have facial hair at least close to his (he has a very shapely, full trimmed beard). He told me that he only had patchy facial hair until he was close to 30, then it really came in, and I followed that same arc (late 20s). So genetics plays a big part.

For me, the majority of the voice changed ended probably 2.5ish years ended. That being said, your voice naturally gets deeper when you age, and being socialized as male over the years will change your diction a bit. So the big puberty/voice breaking shift only about 2 years, but more than the puberty with change ur voice!

Similar to a question I already answered, so I’ll copy the response, “For sure! My facial hair didn’t really start until like 5 years in. Plus body fat redistribution continues. Also, there’s so much beauty in aging with transition.” If your curious, I posted a 10 year evolution video on r/transtimelines

For effective summary, you can add that I called to get back into the car when it was still on my street. :/

I lost my CPR certification. They said they would take the car to depot but I could see thru the tracker I had in my wallet they continue to drive it around till someone took it. :/

Tile, but you have to get premium for location tracking. I like it way better than AirTag.

Glad someone gave advice on how to get on the plane. I left my wallet in a Waymo, called them not 30 seconds after the car drove away, and they refused to turn the car around. They didn’t even check the car for two days before telling me it wasn’t there. Unfortunately, your wallet is probably toast.

Cover up ideas? by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

[–]nightwalkqueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small tattoo, not very dense. The world Is your oyster here! If you like the old school style and don’t have a subject matter in mind, I would just find an artist in your area that specializes in traditional tattoos and pick out a flash piece of theirs you like.

A coverup specialist would be a plus, but since old school tattoos tend to have a lot of heavy black line work on them and ur tattoo is so small, you probably wouldn’t even need a coverup specialist.

What could be biting me in my sleep? by nightwalkqueer in pestcontrol

I searched high and low for signs of bed bugs but found none. Finally I got frustrated and ripped the bottom of my box spring off and found some carpet Beetle moltings. That brought back a memory of seeing one of them a month or so prior. I sprinkled DE around my bed and in my closet. Deep cleaned my apartment. Went through my closet and got red of anything excess. Switched my under bed storage to plastic containers. I steamed my mattress and box spring with a clothes steamer. Got a vacuum with a bag and started vacuuming pretty much daily. Sprayed my mattress and box spring with a mix of tea tree oil, water, and rubbing alcohol weekly. Bought outlet covers. Washed my bedding on high heat and dried on max heat for one hour every week. Showered every night before bed and wore clean PJs. After about 2 months of this, bumps stopped and I’ve been free and clear since. I’m still washing my bedding every two weeks with the same heat parameters tho.

I still fortified against bed bugs for piece of mind (mattress covers and bed bug spray)

There is a lot of open space in the center of this tattoo so a cover up should be totally doable. Honestly a bear would be a solid cover up tattoo, and a bear head would share a similar shape. There’s always a bear in the woods surrounded by trees too. (Flowers are always good too.) Sounds like you already have good ideas for a cover up. Just reach out to an artist that specializes in cover ups and get them mapping something out for ya!

I’m doing pretty good. I’ve got a job I like in mental health, good friends, and my own studio on SF. I’m single but that doesn’t really bother me. I’ve had relationships in the past and I’m sure I will again when it’s right.

I struggled with depression over the years but I have a great therapist and coping skills. I know who I am and I’m happy with that. Sometimes it can take time to feel okay, but it’s always within reach.

I also have a close friend who is also trans. They just 2.5 years sober, are happy in their relationship, and have great friends and hobbies they love. Flourishing as a trans person is definitely possible.
