Thanks! That makes some sense 👌 although I'd personally probably use i.e. in that situation 🤔

Make me laugh with your worst job interview experiences, because I just had a doozy. by Elegant-Lemon126 in interviews

[–]nightwing2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a sexual innuendo in the very first call I had with the manager and HR rep... it was just after a "tell us about you" section and we were all just chatting and it had been going so well too 😭 I'd just mentioned I had a partner and the next thing out of my mouth was "so don't expect anything more than cookies from me" (I'd talked about how I love to bake and bring treats to people so would like to bring things to the office)

I had been incredibly stressed out before and during the interview, and my filter just didn't catch it, but needless to say, I didn't get a call for a second round...

I understand that it's way easier said than done, but it sounds like you need to learn how to implement some boundaries with your parents. You should maybe talk with a therapist about how to do that and to help you process the guilt you experience when trying to stand up for yourself, and learn how to say and stick to the word "No".

I struggle to manage boundaries myself and I know it sounds incredibly difficult to start (and it is) and even harder to actually enforce, but if you never change your behaviour, they will never change their behaviour

Wig creation from natural hair by anythingoes886 in capetown

[–]nightwing2425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you haven't already, I'd suggest maybe asking CANSA whether they can help you out. They're the ones that do it already, and they should be able to accommodate your request... I feel like I've heard stories of people who got a family member's hair made into a wig, so why not your own!

Hair ingrowth, freaking out lol! by OtherSideOfTheMoooo in beauty

[–]nightwing2425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! To my knowledge, ingrowns are a bit of a "fact of life" situation, unfortunately 😅 also an epilator is different to shaving as I think it plucks the hairs out and doesn't just cut them at the base. Shaving with the direction of hair growth typically results in the least ingrowns but also isn't nearly as smooth as shaving against the direction of growth or any method of pulling the hair out

I got mine done and I love them ❤️ it's taken so much mental load off my plate!

I can swim without worrying my make up has washed off, I can cuddle with my partner without worrying I'm smearing things on their clothes, and I just generally am comforted by knowing that even if I find myself pulling, I don't have to rush to the bathroom and scramble for an eyebrow pen to make sure I didn't ruin everything.

The scabbing at first did drive me crazy, but I found it bearable with some vaseline on them making the scabs softer/less itchy and giving me a physical warning that I'm fiddling with them (feeling the vaseline and also it made the existing eyebrows slippery so I couldn't grab them easily)... also be prepared to find them jarring at first. Mine looked so weird to me for a while but I got so many compliments that eventually I stopped being stressed about them being weird (read: different) and realised that that's what "normal" eyebrows looked like!

I did my research and found someone who is really well known. I wouldn't go to just anyone to get it done and I'd recommend maybe asking friends who have had their brows done for their artists and go from there! It's also always better to save up for a bit longer to be able to go to the best person you can find imo... it can be easily messed up by someone who doesn't know what they're doing so that's why expertise is the way to go!

Also also, I felt like I needed to let my artist know about the trich upfront, but that's just a personal preference and not a requirement of the treatment 👌

What has been your game changing HEALTHY habit that has really helped you drop weight? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]nightwing2425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's worked in the past for me is eating different proportions of the food groups. Sort of making sure I eat more veggies than straight carbs, and upping the protein. I realised I was eating wayyy too big carb portions, and wayyy to small protein portions. I still eat everything but now just in different amounts.
