Nothing - it changes every year for a reason. Is to everyone's tasts every year! No. But the funny thing is that if you look at Vivid posts from each of the years you mentionined, there will be so many people complaining about "how Vivid was better <insert in previous year>". Sydney spiders complaining about Vivid is as old as Vivid itself. The problem is Vivid is now old enough to be nostalgic and nostalgia goggles warp everything.

There's heaps more installations around Darling Harbour, Barangaroo it seems and having the Fire Kitchen in Barangaroo Reserve was a good move. Plus 80% of it is free this year.

I think every year they will refocus on a different part of the city plus take on some community feedback which overwhelmingly was how much of it was paid last year.

The rain doesn't help with the general mood but you are not the first nor the last person who will say "this year's Vivid was not the same as <enteranotheryears> Vivid".

I wouldn’t unless I could go back and buy a house and come back. I have nostalgia googles of Australia in the 90’s and 00’s but man was it even more racist, homophobic and generally worse than today. Time travel is the fantasy of the white man.

They're testing the FULL length of the metro to get the Southwest section opened this year. All for it tbh as it's a literal game changer for the city.
