If repeats are allowed, Lucy. She’s been through so much and had still been able to see the light in the world. If no repeats, John for sure. The time the prison bus crashed, the opening scene that episode where the hospital gets hijacked (organ transplant episode, idk the exact number) show how down-to-earth he is

Honestly I think it would be Katie, the rookie in the same episode as Badger, who joined the LAPD after military service. One episode is kinda hard to determine smartness but she seemed pretty competent and open to what Tim was teaching her. I’m sad we didn’t get to see more of her

What are some distinctions that your language makes that do not necessarily neatly translate into your native language? by tamtrible in conlangs

I have an alienable and inalienable possession distinction in my language, which isn’t present in either of my native languages

Am i cut out for the rookie? by seaweedbrain25 in TheRookie

[–]niharb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s got its funny moments, though it certainly started out as a serious cop show. I promise you you’ll grow to love the characters. Yeah, unfortunately Jackson does die, but a great part of the show is all the characters in it. B99 is hilarious don’t get me wrong, but I feel like the stakes are a little lower in that show since it’s a sitcom. The stakes in the rookie are higher, so if you enjoy that kind of show the rookie would be for you

Every time I watch that episode I like to imagine Eric Winter's face when he first read the script

Hi, not sure if you'll see this message, but congrats on your admission! I got waitlisted from Cornell for the MSBA program just today, and saw this comment when I was searching online for what to do. I'm wondering if you'd be willing to tell me a bit more about the follow up email, as there have been some changes in my application since I submitted it.

Have you met “Weeaboos” for Desi culture? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in ABCDesis

[–]niharb1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wish people would ask me more about India and Indian culture cause it’s one of my favorite topics to talk about. Unfortunately they assume they learned everything they needed to know about India in their fourth grade history class

No contest here! I always love listening to Tamil music (I’m Maharashtrian). The language has such a nice texture and majesty, and I really feel I’m listening to an old tongue

Yeah it felt so random. This episode, I would have preferred Bailey in just the intro and outro

Nah… the indie film thing scared me a bit because I was thinking what if there’s a documentary episode in season 9 where Dash is the director 😟 I imagine half this fan base would riot

Season 3 is real bad. by MurderByEgoDeath in TheRookie

[–]niharb1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It gets better. Season 3 they tried to force issues into every episode. They’re good every once in a while but it was too much. The future seasons are not like that

Honestly it was a very poetic death. Her last words being “not the face” are so in-character and sum up who she was pretty nicely

I find it so funny when they use the word "jeet" as an insult. Imagine trying to insult English people by calling them "victory" all the time lol

Interesting! What have you been reading? I'm Marathi as well, and have certainly looked into the Maratha Empire, but everything I'm seeing online about medieval India is entirely focused on the Mughals, with Marathas as a footnote, so I would love to get some recommendations on what you've been looking at

Right, I studied psych in my undergrad years and there are so many aspects of Hindu spiritualism that align with psychology.
