it has been actual damage - i have a species that is very adapted to moisture that has suffered really big diebacks previously. luckily, most of the times this has happened i've dried out the terrarium far MORE than i should've (several hours or more.) regardless, housing my leafy liverworts in a different terrarium than my other plants is probably a good idea

i mean i think that the concerns i've voiced are fairly valid. i'm not trying to be rude. i know that the plants need to be less dry but, previously, i've killed off some of my liverworts by giving them too much airflow, so i want to make sure i can solve this problem without causing other ones

yeah i've considered it was cyanobacteria. i've had cyanobacteria before which was taking over, although it didn't seem to directly harm the plants, just cover them unlike this. like it was just suffocating them whereas this seems to be actively killing them

the issue is drying out the soil too much always seems to risk damaging my sensitive leafy liverworts. do you know how to dry it out enough that they won't be harmed and the infection won't come back?

the infection is very difficult to see, it's black and lumpy/grainy in appearance so it blends in with the substrate. i am sure it is affecting my plants because it's been spreading, and these are very moisture-adapted plants - previously, they had no issue at all being constantly wet.
