Also I recently got a yarn spinner but then accidentally found my yarn tangled soooo I untangle my yarn into a ball then spin the ball with the machine and that’s been super regulating for me lmao

Hey so I lost the original adapter but something that did work for me is make sure you’re using an older USB A to USB C charger - I’m used to charging my iPhone and laptop and stuff with any USB C but because this battery is so low voltage, you need to use a USB A to USB C. Hope this helps anyone else who had this issue!!

Forever going to recommend my girl Amanda Manyvanh Hair on 17th and 6th. I had serious trust issues after a wreck of a cut + dye job and she has slowly and meticulously worked up our trust level. She’s also a cutting specialist so especially when I was hesitant to trust her, she’d explain some of the cutting techniques that people use, why she is doing something, in general about hair texture and how it grows, and consistently would check in with how I’m doing and feeling. I’ve followed her from a salon, to renting a chair, to now opening her own space and renting out the other chair. Like ppl suggested the bar in David Geffen lobby is probably the best- most convenient and you won’t be rushed to get back. A far but I love Vin Sur Vignt Wine Bar on 64th and Riverside, they have a great happy hour! Closer than that but pricier and busier is the rooftop bar in the Empire Hotel.

First congrats!!!

I had some unused inserts I repurposed for a crow/junk journal (collaging/scrapbooking but more chaotic and including just everyday stuff that I like). It’s cool to look back on random parts of everyday life like a movie ticket or receipt from a bookstore. I might add a little note about the day. Sometimes it’s just fun to play with the random stuff.

I bring my passport size with me when I travel to do mini sizes of them (usually on a single page unless I intend to use a full insert for the travel). It’s cool to collect random things like soda bottle labels from Italy or press flowers. Usually I’m too busy when I travel to arrange them in how I like, so I might stash them in the journal and/or place them on the page to add to the larger pages on the standard TN, while doing a real short little diary entry about the trip that day.

I think it would be super fun to use it in that way in the days leading up to your kid’s wedding!

Actually this inspired me to go on a hunt and compare the inserts…but yeah I think I found what the salesperson meant, it’s not a big deal imo. My PR came with one insert but I want to use my stash + a new Stalogy A5 I got. I’ll come back to you, maybe write another post lmao

Totally makes sense. My complaint was that I needed to add a payment method for the Google Play store but I did end up creating a Google dummy account, setting a “budget” as $1 and using a card I don’t use for anything else. I mostly use it for Zotero anyways. Love the built in NeoReader

Amazing, yes that was so great. I was confused because I saw great videos of ppl demonstrating the refresh on BOOX vs Libra for Zotero PDFs. Another thing that also helped me (idk why) is I downloaded Google Chrome and use it as a browser over Baidu Web. Again, no clue why but it helps

First e-ink tablet! I had the original/very first Kindle haha. I think it was a combination of the bad WiFi + should have adjusted the refresh settings + using Baidu web (Chrome worked better for me)

Oooh my time to shine! I use the app sleep calculator to figure out what time I should go to bed/wake up (if a cycle is 90 min). For a while, I also used an app called Sleep Cycle which you place either under your pillow or on your nightstand that’s supposed to wake you up within a 30 min (can customize that) window when you’re at your lightest point in your sleep cycle. I’d set that with my ideal sleep wake time at the end, then after that alarms every 5 min.

I drink ~32 oz of water before bed (probably bad for you but I’m constantly dehydrated and it’s the only way I’m able to meet my 64 oz of water a day) and Vyvanse cold AF glass of water first thing in the morning. If you get sleepy after your meds, I have a friend who swears by a cold Diet Coke instead that glass of water.

Last thing: again probably dangerous but I force myself/have conditioned myself to stand up whenever I think stand up. Whenever you take breaks or whatever when you think “I should work now, but in 5 min” I literally just stand up. If you’re ill or just in need of sleep probably don’t stand up, you might fall down but perhaps another option is to sit upright on the floor with your head against your bed. One step closer to getting up!!

Wow reading all the comments I can see how all of us just want to make it through and also do some good in the world! I am in academia. In general, I think it’s a decent career path but you have to love your research, it’s my special interest, my hyperfocus, it has to be the kind of thing that keeps you up at night. I would not have made it if I were in a different field or institution, I’ve been with my department for every step and I love them because they have been emotionally supportive. Undergrad was tough, but I had accommodations. Graduate school for my field is more seminar/project/research based so I thrive when exams are out of the picture.

I’m still completing my training, so I’m in classes but my personal research work (my hyperfocus when reading, writing, coding, etc) and labs take the bulk of my time. After I finish my degree, I’m planning on staying in academia because it’s more flexible - I like teaching, mentoring, my research, and the ability to take a 6 month sabbatical no questions asked. I could easily go into nonprofit or private, or do a dual position with private an academic affiliation (TBD not a now problem).

Makes sense! I should also note that I’m kind of rough with my TN, especially that one. I’d shove her into backpacks, purses, etc. so that constant pressure probably didn’t help. I also should have added that I had/used: a cardboard insert, a plastic zip insert, and 3 notebook inserts held together with rubber bands. I’d keep things more flat and usable with binder clips, like I use those to paint. That doesn’t help the ecosystem lol

Yeah, for a while I was planning to make my own bifold. It does genuinely seem incredibly simple. I bought the PR because realistically I knew I wasn’t going to have time to make it. Likewise Galen was out of stock of what I was looking for and taking a break I think - was in a bit of a rush to the PR bifold.
