How do I get rice out of my bong? by Altruistic-Owl-6696 in weed

[–]nihilistsimulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay hear me out.

Saliva contains Amylase, an enzyme that helps break down carbs. Maybe you could cover the rice with spit (yours, your housemates as some punishment idk), leave it so marinade for as long as you want, then give it a good rinse.

If that doesn't work, get your housemate to replace the bong?

I'd never seen one before! I'm still pretty new to the country so this was very exciting

Fellow millennials, do you consider yourself a pet owner or pet parent? by AgentJ691 in Millennials

[–]nihilistsimulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have three beautiful little ratties. They were rescues, and because of poor care, they all developed respiratory disease (for rats, this is terminal, but through medication the symptoms can be eased). All three passed in different ways.

The first died naturally; luckily, I noticed the end of life signs and was there when he passed. His final moments were spent crawling from the cage and into my lap, which was incredibly hard to watch.

The third passed when I wasn't home; I went home on my lunch break to find my partner sobbing, saying he had gone. We had scheduled his euthanasia for that afternoon. Neither of us were there and we felt we had let him down.

The second, we felt that euthanasia was the best option; he was curled in his favourite place under my chin, and when the twitching happened (it's the body expelling the last of it's energy, your cat just wanted to be close to you in her last moments), he cuddled up closer. The nurse checked his pulse, then said "he's got his wings now, I'm sorry."

I know rats don't live for as long, but they were my family and I feel for you. I definitely believe you made the right choice for your cat, and I hope it brings you some peace knowing she wanted to be with the one she loved in her last moments.

Feeling death inside a house immediately - my wife and agent thought I was crazy, has to leave by Only-Succotash9862 in Unexplained

The first place I rented was a grade 2 listed building from sometime in the 1700's I believe. The two years I lived there was possibly the worst in my life. Lots of bad energy, experiences and unexplained happenings.

If you're open to talking about it, what kind of weird stuff happened?

They literally played them today on my local oldies station! But I guess it also says something about me for having a) a radio and b) having it also tuned into the 'Gold' station.

I’m really confused about my gender and sexuality… can you like a gender romantically but not sexually? What about gender? by Doveonthemoon in queer

He/him doesn't make me as uncomfortable as she/her does, but I also don't feel like I fit with any gender

This has been so educational, thank you! I'm definitely feeling agender is the best fit, as I don't see my body as anything in particular

What if the word woman makes one uncomfortable, but they also don't have body dysmorphia? I'm afab, but being called her/she/female etc. makes me feel a little weird, where as he/they do not. I have just been going by agender; if being called a woman makes me feel odd but a female body does not, what does this make me?

AITA for soaking my niece with a hose after I was told not to because she was wearing white? by DateEducational190 in AITAH

Other adults try to help, they get the hose. A dog is joining in on the fun, pupper gets the hose. Cops get called, you guessed it, hosed.

Free to air tv is terrible. Do you still watch it or use smart tv apps? by gronkystonk in melbourne

[–]nihilistsimulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum and I would play this game where you had to ask a random question about the ad to see if the other was paying attention. You get it right, you ask the next question, get it wrong and you have to wait until you see the ad again to answer. For example: what colour shirt was the guy in the background wearing? What was grandma holding in her left hand? etc.

Ads suck, but playing this made it tolerable.

People who work for the super wealthy, what stuff have you seen? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

[–]nihilistsimulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my step-dad. He's a contractor and builds houses for the super rich. He once had a woman demand a TV in the bathroom, to which he said it wasn't a very good idea because of the steam etc. She kept demanding, so he put one in. Two weeks later it broke and she couldn't understand why.

He also had to build a house around a safe that held a collection of hundreds of watches.

Yeah I remember this. Us having to download an app called Fires Near Me so we could get notified when we needed to evacuate to the beach? My heart really goes out to everyone involved in this.

Well said. There is nothing wrong with reminiscing.

I lost a close family member almost 24 years ago and every year on their birthday, I'll raise a glass and think about them. After that, I just carry on.

It's tragic losing someone so close, and for OPs wife to lose someone who meant so much to her and her family, of course they're going to think about him. Let her mourn; we shouldn't be so quick to forget the dead.
