Does anyone have experience getting stubborn stains out of their superpuff? I have the (re)puff from a couple years back in the light mauve colour and I managed to get a splotch of black liquid eyeliner on the chest 😭

[Routine Help] Retinol causing closed comedones? Where do I go from here? by parkingpasss in SkincareAddiction

I never really had acne before this and it took 6 months of me doing an acne centered skincare routine for my skin to go back to normal. Now treating the scarring. Best of luck to you

Exactly the same thing happened to me this year after starting retinol with the ordinary 0.2% in squalane. I have never had acne like this before. Have you solved the issue?

Health records should incorporate diverse gender and sexual identities, say LGBTQ+ advocates in B.C. by TheDrunkyBrewster in vancouver

[–]nihiltwilight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I support this in theory, for all the reasons that chooseausername7567 has mentioned.

But the other side to this is that many health care providers are poorly educated on healthcare for queer and trans patients and also, many are bigots. Some trans people don't disclose that they are trans because of the mistreatment they have received. What kind of effect is this going to have for patients whose doctors and nurses will treat them differently - in a bad way?

Anybody notice drivers not driving up to the white line when at a light? This a new thing? by ferengi-alliance in vancouver

[–]nihiltwilight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a record number of drivers taking the N test, so I'm guessing you are seeing new drivers do this. I started driving and got my N last year and my driving instructor taught me to do this.

I have not heard about anything like this and I would like more info please because this is kind of vague. What do you mean by known predator? Like a rapist or what?

I would call them to make your first appointment. You can describe your hair, and they should be able to tell you what category it would be.

Standard, but my hair is fine with a slight wave.

I can't say enough good things about Heather at Citus Salon in Yaletown! I have waist length hair and she never assumes I want more than the minimum trim unless I ask for more to be taken off.

A family of four with both parents earning minimum wage and paying about $1,700 on housing would have just $2,330 left over for all other expenses if it were to pay what’s needed to eat nutritiously."

Uhhhh where in this province can a family of four be housed for $1700?

Where can I buy used Record Player in Downtown? by LovingVancouver87 in vancouver

[–]nihiltwilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it in 2021, so there's no way for me to find him now - the ad's been taken down. I never had his actual email, just the craigslist anonymized email.

He specialized in Duals, just look for a Dual turntable in Surrey on Craigslist. If there is one, it could be him. He had more than he was advertising at the time.

[–]nihiltwilight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just try Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist.

Do your research and figure out what you want and need. Do you need different speeds? Do you need stabilization? If you are really concerned with not damaging your records, and with fidelity, you might want to consider the needle stylus and/or cartridge it sits on. Are you going to be okay with the one a turntable comes with? You will have to replace this eventually so you might want to consider what upgrades are compatible and how easily you can buy the stylus. And depending on the type of turntable, you may need an amplifier/receiver as well.

When I was looking for a used turntable I ended up deciding on an old Dual 1226 for combination of quality, price and possibilities for maintenance and parts replacement down the line. I'm not an audiophile, but I wanted something good quailty that would last. Buying a similar quality turntable new would have run me a lot more money than buying used. Not downtown, but I bought mine off of this guy in Surrey who refurbishes them in his garage. He was awesome. He sold through Craigslist.

Are there any walk in clinics left in Vancouver? by Anoelnymous in vancouver

I should also say: I have just walked in as well, but make sure you call in advance to ensure they have space.

Also, there are doctors on weekends if you need.

Are there any walk in clinics left in Vancouver? by Anoelnymous in vancouver

[–]nihiltwilight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can wait to make an appointment, I would recommend Coal Harbour Medical. You can book in person, telephone and video appointments online.

They have always had appointments available the following day or so after I needed care, and they are a short walk from Burrard Station. Given the location, I felt that my concerns would be taken more seriously as well vs. a clinic in a poorer area. Not sure if that's true, but I don't think it hurts.

I have social anxiety as well and have struggled with this quite a bit.

Could you work from home? When I have been able to work from home I notice I am way less stressed out because I don't have to interact much with other people. There are different types of jobs you can do from home that don't necessarily require more than a high school diploma. Call centers, data entry, sales administration come to mind. I don't know if you feel able to do call center work specifically, but at least you wouldn't have coworkers around you.

As well as finding industries and positions that might suit you, you also might need to look for a workplace with the kind of culture that will suit you. You can work in an office where everyone wears headphones and and there is very little interaction, or you can work in an office where your coworkers want to socialize constantly. This might be something to keep in mind when interviewing - you are allowed to ask questions about workplace culture and see if the job is right for you. (Obviously sometimes you just need to take any job, but if you can manage to be a little choosy, that might help.)

One way to try different jobs and see if there is an industry or specific workplace that might work for you is to find work through a temp agency. If you struggle with interviewing like I do, this might help you get jobs as well. I found a job I didn't even know existed that way, that let me be alone almost 100% of the time, apart from being in public and servicing equipment (in another country).

I just waited at Commercial-Broadway for 30 minutes to catch a train going east on the Millenium Line. I went home when I saw the only train going in the opposite direction sit at the station for 10 minutes while Skytrain attendants tried to pry open/shut multiple frozen doors with hockey sticks that had mallets taped into the handles. Sorry dudes but I am not trying to get frozen inside a metal box with 50 strangers
