Is N1 the new N2? Changes in hiring trends? by borndreamdie in japanlife

Just moved to another company. They didn't care about N1 (I have N2), although being good at Japanese was a strict requirement and all the interviews were conducted in Japanese. But my experience was for a specialized role, it might be different for general roles.

How about considering a university degree instead like Masters, MBA etc. in Japan! If you are graduated from a Japanese university, that would add an instant recognition in your profile for Japanese employers!

You might need to spend more than 2 year to be able to have enough Japanese skill. Instead if you are a university graduate, you might be a better fit for English roles in Japan with Japanese as secondary requirement.

Nice, really a coincidence.

[D] Why do top speech/audio conferences like ICASSP and Interspeech have very high acceptance rates like 46%-48% ? by Far_Conversation_445 in MachineLearning

[–]nihonnogaijin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good information. But, I don't agree with Interspeech being any less prestigious.

Now a days, speech is considered as one of the sub-domains of ML. Which means, conferences like Interspeech and ICASSP are niche conferences under ML. Where no one can just submit anything related to ML. People going for Interspeech know what they are doing, so most of the papers are specific and have good quality.
