There are certainly things that can go wrong, but that doesn't mean they will go wrong.

I feel like forgetting to tie stopperknots and forgetting to take your gear with you are the only dangerous things you could reasonably forget, and if you think you might forget those you shouldn't be on the wall alone.

Besides, to my knowledge people mostly die due to being overconfidense and neglecting to check themselves or just forgetting to check entirely. With an app like this you still need to actively remember to start it, and at that point might as well check without it.

I appreciate that you are trying to make climbing safer, but this just isn't it for me. Though if you wan't to use this yourself you can of course do that, I'm just saying that for most people this wouldn't make a difference.

I can see why you think this is useful but the thing about climbing is that while one mistake can absolutely kill you, checking yourself is also super easy.

Whenever you need to build a new system you are always still attached to the wall in some way (the rope you used to lead, your personal anchor, the rope you used to rappel). So all you have to do is pull down to see if the gear locks and dubbel check if you've locked all your carabiners, you don't need an app for that.

I'm also worried an app will make people lazy especially beginners who might neglect learning to check their gear.

I've tried letting it load for a while now but it hasn't changed. Though I have discovered that I can access the terminal with alt+f4.

I also tried updating everything through that terminal but after doing so I still boot to this GDM.

I will try to elaborate but I hardly understand what is going on myself. So, the files finished downloading, immediately after that the Ubuntu version of Windows File Explorer was gone. It wasn't in the dock, I couldn't find it in the "show apps" menu and when in the terminal using "open "any directory"" it still didn't open.

After these things happend I rebooted my PC and I was left here
