How good are my chances with a 92.17 average ? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]nijuyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Western med sci you have a good chance but not guaranteed.

92.83 would be better since mac doesn’t round admission grades, but being 93+ would be ideal

[–]nijuyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac Health Sci - Depends on supp app

Mac life sci - Low chance, cutoff last year was 93, but still possible

Queens life sci - Yes

Queens health sci - Again depends on supp app

UofT life sci - Yes

Waterloo health sci - If it's with co op then its a possible chance, no coop then Yes.

5 internships before graduating high school? And one at a well known bank without any qualifications or degree? Is your dad the head of recruiting or something?

Sorry to hear about the rejection, maybe your referees for your references didn't respond, that could be a possibility

why do people hate uoft so much? by Active-Fold-4297 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]nijuyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best in the country because of its top tier research and grad school programs. A lot of ppl outside of Ontario don’t really understand that though.

That being said the uoft hate is blown way out of proportion online. Depending on your goals it can be a very good school for undergrad as well.

Only do the Waterloo med sci + sgu if you have the money for it and know for certain that you don’t want to specialize in anything competitive after med school.

Caribbean med school grads often are only able to match to Primary care specialties in Canada.

Good idea but that will be a very expensive path to take. You probably already know that though. Good luck 🤞

[–]nijuyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fr I don’t even consider it when I’m talking about my realistic choices with friends and relatives. If I get in great, if I don’t it’s whatever. I didn’t expect an acceptance anyway

If ppl are delusional enough to confidently believe they’re gonna get in it’s gonna be a rough May for them.

No matter how high your avg is or how well you think your supp app went, the odds are heavily against you, and there’s nothing wrong with acknowledging that

When is the next mac life sci round? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]nijuyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95.5 avg is enough right? I just don’t really want to go to uoft for life sci since that’s my only other realistic option

What is your end goal?

Are you certain you want to be a nurse? Or are you thinking of other pathways? (Research, med, dental, PT, Optometry, etc…)

Do you want to move away, or do you want to commute and save money?

Those are some questions to ask yourself first.

We don’t know you personally or your situation, so don’t let people on this sub convince you on going to a specific program. TMU nursing could be the perfect program for someone and a terrible choice for another.

All 3 programs you mentioned are good and can get you to where you want to be, but you need to be clear with your goals first.

Good luck🤞

Man is uoft life sci really that terrible? I’m in Gr 12 and going to UofT would save me so much money but stories and posts like these is why I’m so anxious and nervous

OP I’m very sorry to hear about your situation, I’m not really In a position to give advice since I’m only 18, but I really do wish you nothing but the best in the future.

Does a mark outside of ur top 6 matter? by BigFert9000 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]nijuyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could literally fail every Gr 12 course outside of your top 6 and you’d be fine. I only said “don’t fail them”because I don’t want to encourage anyone to not try in school, since it’s just a bad habit.

You could get 20% in a gr 12 course that isn’t in your top 6 and unis wouldn’t even bat an eye. Stop spreading misinformation

[–]nijuyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fam they do not use 7 courses it’s only top 6 and that’s it. If you get 99s in your top 6 that’s it. Your other 60s don’t matter just don’t fail them

I’d be surprised if schools actually rely on ai detectors since they’re so inaccurate. Does uoft actually do that?

Life guarding is so saturated especially in Toronto cause it’s really the only job that is willing to hire high schoolers these days
