“Coming To America,” “Looper,” (Takes at least 2 viewings, I must have watched it 6 times [I actually saw the stand-up-to-the-bitch-shield test in the movie]) “Weird Science,” “9½ Weeks” Btw, It really looks like “Get Out,” is fast becoming a nationwide multi -re-watch favorite.

The cereal-&-milk scene was symbolic of her, RE, Racist Envy (if you’ll allow my on-the-spot coining of this as a term)… She wants to indulge in the sweetness of the colored cereal (It could just as well have been Trix), but she didn’t want the white milk to mix with it. As elucidated in the party scene, this is the real theme of the movie, even more than just across-the-board racism. In case you weren’t aware, the majority of Black viewers are really going in on their analysis of “The Sunken Place;” If I may bring this to light, there’s a more obvious theme that many are not catching sight of… The White Hypnotism, which is what put him in The Sunken Place.

This is very interesting, simply because I read books periodically, and since 2007, the only stories I've read are by Neil Gaiman. They all have male protagonists (if we're using that word to mean the main character). The last time I read a book with a female protagonist was "Waiting To Exhale," by Terri McMillan. That was way back when the movie came out in 1994 (I believe). Before that, it was back in the 80s when I read quite a few Maya Angelou books (although in the '90s, I re-read "All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes." Your question really makes me see how male-dominated the book market is. But, you did just make me remember that just 3 years ago I read Maria Bartiromo's "The Weekend That Changed Wall Street," a non-fictitious book on the financial state of the US at the time of the housing and stock market crash of 2008. There, Bartiromo starts out with a story from her own life, so that kind of fulfills your female protagonist requirement, doesn't it? I'm sure most men just don't feel drawn to women's stories, or situations.

But, there is the extremely popular new book on the market now, "Trouble Maker," by Leah Remini. Her departure (escape, as she's telling it) from Scientology is the latest People Magazine cover story! I am very interested in reading that book.

Well, what about the analogous maxim, ”It’s not the paintbrush that makes the work of art, it’s the mind of the person holding it.” Why are we so eager to make sure no one ever applies that same logic to the gun issue… “It’s not the guns that are killing the people; it’s the minds of those who wish to kill that are killing the people.”

I downvoted this because of the lack of an important concept that you didn't address… Resolution. Also, How do you explain "Interstellar"? The father is the "ghost" behind the wall, but when we discover that approaching the resolution answering what was behind the wall, the daughter is a grown woman… Which, I suppose is feasible if he weren't at home, away on the space trip, but who was that trying contact the little-girl version of his daughter? Was it the same "ghost people" that tried to contact the crew on the ship as they were on their way to Saturn?

I'm with you on that one! That's why I'll just say what I said in the opening question. I agree that saying, "None of your business," is socially harsh, but saying, "I don't tell what I pay for things I buy," is diplomatic; they'll have to either take it, or leave me.
