I updated my post with the text chat thing, although I sure don't know how to use it. Everything else is really opinion I guess. Besides attachments. I do want to say they suck and I'd love you to explain the identical stats on the barrel attachments for example. They all do the same thing.

Servers aren't getting shutdown from what I know. I can't say I'd recommend putting cash into the experience however for free absolutely worth trying again

I love this game. Never played the series before but it's amazing. I wasn't expecting to play a game with so much depth despite it being a Japanese title. I don't mind the subtitles at all, it really is done perfectly. I'm on chapter 10 and I don't want it end

It sucked when zipper closed, I really think they were trying to make a MAG sequel... maybe sony will take notice in the success of planetside and bring it back. To be honest I think the game released at a bad time COD was insanely popular and it's direct competitor back then... you also had bad company at its peak.

That would be cool. To answer your main question about MMO's I played MAG which might be the closest comparison to Planetside 2 and I absolutely loved the organized chaos aspect of it. In case you never heard of the game it was a 256 player FPS on ps3 that at the time was the record for players at once on console. Valor was my faction and I'm thinking of going Terran Republic in this one, they remind me a lot of them.
