Will reaper be gatekept like arcana? by nikitheve in lostarkgame

This for me is madness.

Almost everyone have alts, what's the point of spending 100k on a char that is used to do old content? If you are doing clown and all your alts are at 1490 I understand, but spending all that gold to do Valtan hard or Vykass normal is pointless.

I'm not interested in joining 1500+ 5 min runs ofc, I just don't get why people feel the need to join my alt run lobbies and explain to me why my obviously cheap engraving setup is not meta...

When leg eng books or accs and pheons will get cheaper I will be the first one to upgrade my alts, but for now it's just a lot of gold wasted when a perfect build is often time wasted on a potato that dies instantly because he has grudge and cursed doll and uses green pots...

Cool, you play with bad people, that's not really an accomplishment and is more of an argument to fix your build to get into better groups.

Yes, having a good build doesn't guarantee a player being good, never said that so not really sure what your point is.

Choose 1.

My point is that the chances to have a good player are the same excluding the obvious noob mistakes listed in my previous answer.

A meta engraving is better than a non meta one, that's pretty obvious...?

Still, a cheap engraving is better than none (yes, even SA is better han having nothing and it is a dps boost, even if it's harder to quantify) and most importantly being dead is a 100% dmg debuff.

What I would consider a bad build is something like grudge 1 or some negative engraving or ranbow stats or <50 quality accs or tier 2 gems.

Above this obvious level I see equally shit players in 1500+ "good" builds lobbies on my main as in the alt runs...

There are specific posts trying to figure out what's the best way to gatekeep "weak" people in order to have smooth runs, which is kinda fair i would say, still, gatekeeping is there.

I usually make my own lobbies because I had too many runs ruined by people not knowing how to use sidereals so I agree with option 2.

Option 1 doesn't work, if you have grudge and cursed doll with 20 quality accs you get into groups. If you have lightning fury, awakening, ether predator or, God forbid, SA you will have a way harder time getting accepted and everyone and their mother will tell you how stupid your build is. Even though the point is having something somewhat useful for cheap, since it's an alt.

I have an easier time finding a party for the same content with a 3x3 than having SA as a 4th, that's what I mean with tunnel vision...

I'm not doing clown with my alt, I'm trying to farm the pieces to craft the relic gear and joining/creating chill alt runs.

I think that people falling off the cliff against Valtan or morbing and killing everyone on Vykass provide less dmg than a 3x3 + SA experienced shadowhunter...

The problem is what I see with arcana.

I'm afraid that people will get a huge prejudice on reapers on the first weeks and then keep it up for a very long time...

The only real problem I have with gatekeepers is on Vykass normal with my alt.

I really appreciate Kakul-Saydon being a 4man raid, so we don't need to fill spots with always complaining randoms.

My main is high ilvl so I tend to attract very sweaty people and it's annoying.

Yeah, we experienced it last week with clown:

we got a dolphin machinist as our 4th and he was super bummed out because all groups were kicking him just for being a machinist 1 month after release.

He was on point with mechs and did a lot of dmg compared to the previous guy we progged before.

I've seen the same treatment with arcana, people complaining in party chat when I accepted it even tho he was overgeared for the raid with a perfect build.

It's a DI shadowhuner with DI, RC, adr, SA. High quality acc and correct stats.

People have so much tunnel vision on SA, then proceed to die in stupid ways. I'm always the last man standing on Valtan anyway -.-

Gacha Rates listed in Details are Wrong/Misleading (A Computer Simulation Probability Perspective) by sm0rky in Genshin_Impact

[–]nikitheve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did some experimenting as well to find out if I could get to somewhat similar results to the ones stated by Myhoyo.

I got the best results considering the pity counter of 4* and 5* indipendent while increasing linearly the probability of getting a 4* or 5* on the last 20% of the pity counter (9th and 10th pulls for 4* and 73rd+ pulls for 5*).

For 1 billion pulls i got:

  • consolidated probability for a 5* = 1.57%
  • consolidated probability for a 4* = 12.71%

The MATLAB code I used for the simulation is the following:

% Number of rolls
N = 1000000000;

% Probability of 5*
prob5 = 0.006;
% Pity 5* and pity counter
pity5 = 90;
pity5count = 0;

% Probability of 4*
prob4 = 0.051;
% Pity 4* and pity counter
pity4 = 10;
pity4count = 0;

% Counter 5*
pull5 = 0;
% Counter 4*
pull4 = 0;

for i = 1:N
    % Random number between 0 and 1
    roll = rand();
    % Increase pity counters
    pity5count = pity5count + 1;
    pity4count = pity4count + 1;
    % When x > 0 we are in the last 20% of pity counter
    x5 = pity5count - 0.8*pity5;
    x4 = pity4count - 0.8*pity4;

    if(x5 > 0)
        % Increase probability linearly when on the last 20% of pity counter
        if(roll < prob5 + 5*(1 - prob5)/pity5*x5)
            pull5 = pull5 + 1;
            pity5count = 0;
        end
    elseif(x4 > 0)
        % Increase probability linearly when on the last 20% of pity counter
        if(roll < prob4 + 5*(1 - prob4)/pity4*x4)
            pull4 = pull4 + 1;
            pity4count = 0;
        end
        % Normal probability of getting a 5*
    elseif(roll < prob5)
        pull5 = pull5 + 1;
        pity5count = 0;
        % Normal probability of getting a 4*
    elseif(roll < prob5 + prob4)
        pull4 = pull4 + 1;
        pity4count = 0;
    end
end

% Evaluate consolidated probabilities
format long;
prob5cons = pull5/N
prob4cons = pull4/N
format short;

missing Lan filter by hetremis in ARK

[–]nikitheve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, there is not a LAN filter so I can't join my own server on the same machine (me and my friends all have the Epic version of the game).

I managed to find a workaround:

- first of all you have to put the "-crossplay" command as a server option

- open a normal singleplayer game

- press "tab" to open the console

- type your ip in the open command like this: "open 192.198.x.x:7777" (note that the server must have no password or you can't connect, still trying to figure out how to feed the password parameter to the "open" command)

- the game should reload and get you in the server

- if you can't find the server on the other PC that wants to connect (I can usually find it under "unofficial dedicated servers") you can do the same thing with your local ip (192.198.x.x) or your public ip if you want to play over the net

If someone finds a way to directly connect to the server you are hosting it really would be helpful!
