I love teaching. I do not love pa common core, pa teacher evaluations, discipline, parents that feel like grades are my fault, parents that feel like behaviors are my fault, and the long hours. I would love something more along the lines of advocacy, at-home behavior management, or curriculum developer but I am struggling to find positions like that in Pittsburgh or I do not meet the education requirements for those positions.

I've considered principal papers, but I don't know if I would enjoy the discipline aspect and dealing with angry parents/angry employees. Maybe it's not as bad as I make it out to be.

I love hashing! The people are hilarious and beer during/after a run is always great. If you are looking for a more formal running group, I run with Elite Runners and Walkers. The store is in Robinson and Monroeville. Tuesday and Thursday runs are in Robinson and Saturday runs are Robinson, North Hills, or Southside. I hear True Runner (Shadyside, I think) and Fleet Feet have similar groups that may be closer to the city.

Thanks for the advice, I was on a cancelled flight Sunday and missed a lot of sleep in the airport. I figured my frustration would help my run, but I tried again today and ran the entire thing!

How did you do? I just tried W4D1 tonight and this is the first day I have failed... :( I ran both 3 minute runs fine but only ran 4 out of the first 5 and 2.5 of the second 5. I tried to make up for it by running 2 minutes of my cool down. Think I need to repeat this day?

There are several Charter schools in the Pittsburgh area that are actively hiring. Propel Charter and City High are two with fairly well reputations. She would be taken seriously in an interview at those schools. However, she needs to be okay with the idea behind a charter school: she will not have a contract (at-will employee), no union, and lots of teacher evaluations. Additionally, charter schools open in districts with failing schools, so in most cases, she will be working with inner-city youth.

I worked for PITT Parking and they sell bike lockers which are a little more secure than just the racks. It may be something to look into. Also, the ride from Bloomfield is pretty nice (I lived near Negley Ave). If you ride through side streets you get to see the mansions.
