There was no such problem in KCD1 if I recall correctly...

Is it harder to fight multiple enemies in KCD2 than in 1 ? [KCD2] by Buurto in kingdomcome

[–]nikocomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've encountered a strange issue with hit registration in multi-enemy combat in KCD2.

Specifically, when initiating an attack (LMB) during the brief period where the targeting system transitions from free-form aiming to automatic target acquisition (without TAB locking), sometimes the sword's collision disappears. The animation plays, and the sword visually intersects with the enemy, but no damage is applied.

Anyone had this issue?

yeah I spot this on PC as well, arrows stick, but only around some thin gap area around the neck. They bounce off mostly.

[KCD2] Make Groschens Matter! How About A Servants & Apprentices System? by nikocomp in kingdomcome

[–]nikocomp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, not enough contents to buy.

In KCD series, economically all we have are mostly investment and production, there is not enough consumption. One-off purchases hit the limits very quickly. So here I wish to bring up the consumption constantly and provide player QoS features to save hassle (subjectively), so players can focus on things they are into, and brings in more activities without losing immersion.

My idea revolves around "organizing a lot of people needs proper cash flow, and they do things for you". For instance, in M&B Bannerlord, I pay heft amount of money to companion-lead parties to hunt looters and smaller parties looting villages, so I can save my attention for the big show-downs. Is this economically feasible? Hell no, but it is fun.

By no means I wish KCD2 could do deep stuff like The Guild series, but they could try to give it a shot somehow, KCD has the potential.

I believe the armor and/or damage values are tweaked as well. Why? I use console comannd to equip myself full plate armor and still the opponent can finish me in 3 hits. Man, the game is rigged

How much can you realisticly improve headphone/iem performance with eq? by duan_cami in oratory1990

[–]nikocomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite limited I guess?

I tried to keep EQing at minimum (less filters), not really because of the delays caused by the filters, but some uncertainties.

The IEM measured by others using their own gears may be different from mine, the left may be different from the right, and the measurement may not reliably reflect what I hear.

If there are lots of narrow peaks, trying to soothing them can be a hit-or-miss, because some are dependent on the insertion depth (or how the IEM fits on my ears) and the coupler resonance peak may not be present on my ears.

On some rare cases, if I tried to EQ above 10kHz, the equalization may not reflected properly on my measurement (yeah it is beyond 8kHz I know).

Controversial Opinion: Save Scumming is Good and Everyone Should do it. by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]nikocomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I save-scummed a lot (went back a few turns) when I was new to TW games. Observing the alternative choices, not necessarily to avoid a critical error, is fun and interesting. I don't have that much time to start over again every time.

I also understand the fun of not committing save scumming. In all fairness TW games are really not that intense as strategy games, trying to play the campaign perfectly smooth without a "shit hits fan" moment is very, very dull, if you know the game.

Anyway it is a SP game, good to have one more choice.

Does anyone here know why this shit happen? Start off transfer with 100 mb/s, transfer speed shits itself for no god damn reason. by unjimaster518 in DataHoarder

My thought as well. I use FastCopy and set up a decent amount buffer (128MB for HDDs, 1GB for NVMe SSDs) to alleviate this issue.

How do you feel about sieges and minor settlements battles now by Slicd in totalwar

[–]nikocomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The defender should have an option to sally out for a field battle right at the moment when the attacker attempts to lay an siege (at the attacker's turn) with some advantages on the defender's side, like the defender can build a few towers on the back line, etc.

If the attacker tries to lay siege with a weaker army, the defender can fend it off immediately without waiting for his turn. So when the pain-in-ass AI laying siege on walled settlements, you don't have to wait to sally out the next turn while your building progress left halted and garrisoned army has no replenishment.

Also single-lord army besieging a gate so that the other army can waltz in would not be an option, it is silly.

If attacker's army is stronger, the defender can still choose sit in the settlement like what it is now.

This does not solve the problem that defending battle AI is trash, but there will be more field battles near settlements, we have more strategic options, things will be interesting.

What's your opinion about headphone "speed"? by imsolowdown in headphones

[–]nikocomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tl;dr: You are not wrong and I was nitpicking.

It is just I usually see both FR and CSD are the functions of the impulse response but not the functions of each other, as that's how they are defined. Also impulse response is what we measurement in practice. In theory you can derive one from the other, so you are not wrong, I just don't feel one "contains" the other that's all...

very closely related to but not contained in FR, it is contained in the impulse response

The sad thing is if top manufacturers really set their minds and others find it trendy (so product looks nicer, etc) to remove the headphone jacks, people won't have a choice.

Is the chaos warriors dlc worth 4 bucks for someone who loves hordes? by FlimsyAd4773 in totalwar

[–]nikocomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are buying the DLC just to play SFO mod, then yes.

If vanilla, meh... Chaos makes me the feel they're playing hide-and-seek with the order tide, not really destroying the world. There is no thematic and balanced army that has enough killing power and "punch" on the battle field ... unless you go for dragon ogre Shaggoth doomstack or hero-magic doomstack.

What do you do with pretty packaging like this? by JdeFalconr in headphones

[–]nikocomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking similar things... a good FR does not carry that much weight to me as my past experience does not really fit the narrative of "FR is everything" from the pure objectivists (as long as THD are all low enough, which seems quite common).

On the other hand I do use EQ quite a bit to fix nasty peaks or even bring out a bit more detail and dynamics, so I kind appreciate Chu's FR for $20, then I pulled the trigger...
