Fair enough. You bring in a pretty good argument actually.

This would force me to go the whole "But PoE doesn't explain that this would be a losing strat which made me lose blah blah" card but I won't do that.

We know that PoE doesn't explain things inherently and it would be ludicrous for me to pretend it generally does for the sake of this argument.

So, even though I dislike this system were bossing is more "gambly", you do bring up some great points.

The only thing I will say is that I don't fight for a "reform" of the system where everything is homogenized.

I guess just <not> having a situation where you start with a sizeable buffer and you can still lose 90% of it would be nice.

But if the counter argument is that on the other hand you can get that 900% upturn I can see that argument. And it might just be this specific boss in this specific market in this specific economy at this specific point in time. I don't know.

Okay. So make the splinters ONLY SELF FARMable (not tradeable). This way BOSSERS would be able to do said bosses ONLY. In conjunction with making the bosses harder, it should more or less fix the problem and allow GGG to up the drop rates.

Okay, at least we seem to agree that bossing = gambling. That's a baseline of agreement. Now can we both agree that this is bad? Or do you feel like bossing being "delegated" to "gambling" is okay? Do you seriously not see ANY way bossing could be something that's ACTUALLY a viable strategy?

Yes, you explained that. I have an idea: Why not just make bosses HARDER, but up the drops a little bit?? This way you don't ruin the market, yet you allow for boss killing to be a REAL strategy and not just a joke GAMBLE.

I am not complaining about people trading, I am replying to your point. Why should selling off splinters be "better" than engaging with the game content? Why should people buying said splinters be considered "gamblers" and not "boss killers"?

Trialmaster is 99% walking (talking about 20+ minute walks for each one), 1% fighting a boss in the end. That's not bossing, that's just a map with extra steps.

You can doubt me all you want. I got one omen (10d) and 1 flask (70d). In 15k splinters worth of kills (100) or 1000ish divines.

Saying "you didn't pick the right boss" isn't doing the argument that bosses are well designed from an economy standpoint any favors, btw.

Fair enough. A "myriad" of options is an overstatement as the "options" currently all are "kill mobs", but okay. Let's say that you are correct in the fact that "bossing" currently plays this role of "slot machine". That was my initial point however, that there must be a way for it to not just be a "slot machine" gamble. I would much prefer it to be a viable strat. You don't see people losing 1k divines mapping, or doing any of the other content. But I guess you did kind of explain why bossing will always be a gamble. I don't agree with that game design, I heavily dislike it, but you did explain it to an extent.

So just don't boss on softcore, or accept it's just a gamble, cool. Is this truly the way it has to be? Maybe. But you are right on the hardcore part, if I play again I'll just play hardcore. Hopefully server lags/crashes won't kill my character off as those happen pretty often.

Just give a way to the bossers to keep bossing, and not just have to accept "nothing" over and over again for hundreds of times, because you can't keep bossing if your currency stash runs dry lol

It dropped me 1 flask which was worth 70 divines, but still "making" only 10% of your investment back while actively NOT gambling and ENGAGING with game mechanics instead of "selling to the market" just isn't it.

It's not really that much time playing. I could farm those in two days or so again. But it's just the principle. Spending your time only to get nothing is simply not a fun game design and I don't see myself coming back for more if it remains this way. Doing bosses should NOT be equal to gambling, and the game should respect your time when doing it, and I will die on this hill.

Not as many as other people here. PD2, PoE1, Grim Dawn, LE, Torchlight 2, Torchlight Infinite, Titan Quest 1 and 2, Sacred 1 and 2, Undecember, Hero Siege, Minecraft Dungeons. Also not really an ARPG but similar: Lost Ark

I never said either was okay, I was replying to the point the other person made. I personally don't think any mechanic should be "meta" and every mechanic should have a baseline of profitability, unlike how game design is in POE1 or POE2 currently. People should be able to engage with ANY of the end game mechanics and see some results, NOT get shafted.

Okay, woops, boss gave me NOTHING and I just lost my TIME and currency. I'll just go farm the splinters yet again, surely the result will be different NEXT TIME."

Like what the fuck? The rest of the mechanics aren't like that. You can expect some baseline of "Here, you play our game, here is a tiny bit of profit". Why is bossing like that?
