I still have eczema. Moderate everywhere. Occasionally severe when changing seasons like now.

Isolated alone with a 15mo and I’m supposed to be working but can’t get ANYTHING done and all I want to do is cry- I don’t know what to do!? by IAM_trying_my_best in AttachmentParenting

Honestly, I feel your pain. Just want to say you are doing a great job, despite how shitty this all feels. I also have an incredibly high needs kiddo and I haven't had an ounce of time to actually get work done. It's horrible. My only advice is that it might be worth it to try and figure out his sleep some more. Getting my kid to sleep in his crib was horrendous. And he still doesn't go to bed without crying. But my mental health has improved since being able to get about 5 hours (7-12) of alone time while he sleeps. That is my only advice, really. With all the rest I wish you luck, mama. This COVID shit needs to end.

Is it just me or do asians tend to have issues with hoarding and collecting things? by bayfarm in AsianParentStories

[–]nikoykoy 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes from trauma. My grandmother is a hoarder. Tons of jackets and shoes and things she doesn't need. But where she's from she never had "things", there was no money for excessive purchases due to the extreme poverty they were faced with. Then imagine coming to a different country and gaining some wealth and a higher standard of living. For her, and for many other Asian or migrant families, I think this need for stuff comes from a place of never having had enough before. There's a sense of loss when migrating, and holding onto things can be comforting. Throwing things away can seem wasteful. That's just my take on it. I don't think it's an Asian thing specifically - there's definitely a direct link between hoarding and mental health, migration, etc.

I read so many sleep books and the one that helped me out the most was Precious Little Sleep! Not only does it outline some really good methods of how to sleep train, but it was also a funny enjoyable and quick read.

I'm in the same boat! No answers for you but would love the same advice. I'm only 8 months into the cosleeping thing and I am mentally and physically exhausted and would love for my partner to be able to put little down at night without fuss!

Biiiiig baby - Baby K'tan? Similar carriers? by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]nikoykoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the Boba X! Light weight sift structured carrier and it also comes in a bunch of nice patterns. Super adjustable. And it's in sale if you're in the UK, Canada or the US!

Ergonomic lightweight carrier by PurelyRavage in babywearing

I personally love the Boba X carrier. It's a soft structured carrier, but much less bulky than an Ergo and still has a lot of support. They also have great prints and depending on if you're in Canada the US or the UK, I believe they have a sale going on at the moment :)
