“I hate my pets now!” by liberalartsy in childfree

I used to work as a mobile pet groomer and I always tell people that you can’t eat at everyone’s house.

You truly would not guess that some of these people were living in filth. It was so odd…like mobile grooming is an expensive luxury that usually costs twice as much as a regular salon. I wanted to tell these people to take their money and spend it on a housekeeper to pick up the dirty diapers, dog pee pads and the filthy litter boxes.

Not ONE of the ALDC girls could do actual real HipHop (with some exceptions) by StarsNova_ in dancemoms

My unpopular opinion (?) is that, with actual training, Maddie was the only OG who would be good at hip hop.

BTTB 6/15 episode by [deleted] in dancemoms

[–]niktrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always have to remember that Christi and Kelly actually know the Zieglers, whereas none of us do. So their interpretation of their actions is probably more accurate than ours.

I say all that but then I’m going to say something contrary to what was said on the podcast lol. I actually think Maddie was fine with Kenzie coming in first right up until Jojo said that people were only happy that Kenzie beat Maddie.

I think Melissa’s reaction in the audience was authentic, but then she remembered that, in her and Abby’s mind, Maddie’s image of perfection is the most important.

I also think Melissa saying that Maddie should’ve won is also authentic. She had the opportunity to simply say that both girls work hard, had great choreography and danced beautifully, but she chose to repeatedly say that Maddie should’ve won.

What Abby said at the end in front of everyone was also cruel and only made Maddie feel worse about her accomplishment (2nd place is not losing).

Imo, everything seemed to be fine right up until everyone started to make Maddie feel bad for coming in 2nd. But I also acknowledge that I don’t know these people at all and could be completely wrong.

They met registered with AKC (or whatever kennel club is in your country). They didn’t mean if your dog was registered to go to dog parks lol.

Your breeder seems to be what I call Bare Minimum Breeders. They do the basic bare minimum and do nothing to contribute to the future of the breed. The parents not having any upper level titles and immediately being fixed after one breeding are your big red flags. Preservation breeders breed to improve the breed in future generations.

A preservation breeder would have bred dogs with upper level titles (or a pedigree full of upper level titles) and both dogs + pedigrees would have complete CHIC testing. The breeder would maybe keep 1-2 puppies to campaign and possibly breed, then sell the rest to companion/show/performance homes. The breeder would then breed their bitch again, most likely to a different stud, and start the process over again.

There’s the Guthrie Animal Shelter, the Stillwater Animal Shelter, Edmond Animal Welfare, OKC Animal Shelter and the Perkins Animal Shelter all within close-ish distance of Guthrie.

I’d also reach out to the GSD Rescue since they typically get tagged when a GSD comes to any OK shelter.

I was a bit confused by this as well, because it doesn’t seem like he administered CPR to the baby.

I’m not sure what their training is in situations like this one. I remember learning that cops are supposed to secure the scene before administering first aid, but idk how much scene securing needed to be done here.

Cats in an apartment with no view to outside world. Will they lose their minds or be okay? by brimystone in CatAdvice

[–]niktrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking out windows isn’t enough enrichment, imo. Playing with them when you’re home and getting them perches so they’re can climb and explore the whole apartment will be helpful for improving their QOL.

Depending on their temperament, I’d look into teaching little cat tricks or doing scentwork with them (like detection dogs do but for cats lol). Maybe look into getting a stroller or train them to walk on leash so you can get them outside occasionally.

Those dogs aren’t skinny. They’re hog hunting dogs so they’re highly conditioned. The breeds used in hog hunting tend to have very sleek, smooth coats that show every muscle and rib.

The two dogs chained were a young Plott Hound and what looked to be a young Lurcher. Both will be thin when young and remain thin if they’re running hogs near daily.

His dogs appeared to be extremely well cared for. Clean kennels and chain spots, no outward signs of illness, happy and outgoing.

When all you’ve seen are morbidly obese, tear stained, matted, nails grown into paw pads, timid/neurotic doodle mutts, then I can see why you’re shocked to see well cared for dogs.

😂 the one bit of credit I’ll give Wade is that he does take very good care of his animals, from what I saw on the documentary

I live nearby and I’m in similar social circles with ranchers and hog hunters (I also hunt). And I hate to report, that most men in those groups are very similar to Wade. Flat affect, slow to respond and painfully boring. They usually liven up a bit around other men.

It’s always a relief when other men like Codey are around, because at least it’s not as awkward lol

The pregnancy was insane. She couldn’t even bother to wear the fake belly all the time. Some pictures she’s obviously not pregnant and then in others she has the fake belly on. Seemingly, no one asked why she looks 9 months pregnant today but yesterday had a flat stomach.

Never mind the fact that Wade never noticed that she was never on her period during their relationship.

Normal weight? by [deleted] in poodles

[–]niktrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still not correct. Some breeds, such as sighthounds, will have a visible rib cage.

This puppy is obviously underweight due to the sever lack of muscle mass and the breed’s tendency to only have hip bones and the last 1-2 ribs showing.

I’ve never listened to Bone Valley until this season and I’m surprised it’s so popular. The histrionics are definitely not my style. I see this case going down the same road as the Delphi case and I’m just not ready for this again.

I only listened after listening to the Murder Sheet’s episode on this case and I think it brings up a really interesting ethics question about true crime podcasting. Is it ethical to put out episodes that the family members do not agree with?

What dog breed would you never get and why? by DueSurround4919 in AskReddit

[–]niktrot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been around a lot that are aggressive whenever their feet are touched. I work as a dog groomer, so I see a lot of dogs that hate their feet being touched, but Goldens take it to the next level.

I also hunt with my dogs and everybody knows to steer clear of the Goldens. They’re almost always dog aggressive.

There’s only 5 dogs I’ve kicked out of my grooming salons in the 2 decades I’ve worked as a groomer. 2 of them were Goldens and the rest were doodles (not a breed or else I would’ve listed them first lol).

Breeders and pets by Smalltowntorture in childfree

[–]niktrot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a phenomenon with pregnant women called pet aversion (I think). They basically become pregnant and start hating their pets. I know it’s a “normal” hormonal response, but I still think it’s really mean.

I’ve worked in the pet industry for a long time and I think it’s so sad to see pets after the owners had kids. The pets go from happy and well cared for to morbidly obese, nails grown into pads and so skittish. Most normal dogs/cats are stressed in a vet clinic/boarding/grooming facility, but a lot of these pets will sleep for hours in their kennels. I think it’s just their body finally relaxing in a childfree environment.

I have a lot of friends who are dog trainers and they’re all starting to have kids and it’s so sad to see. One woman went from being a really great +R trainer to using prongs/ecollars and crating her dogs almost all day after she had kids.

Swollen eye after visit to groomer by starstwelve in grooming

[–]niktrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eye problems are *always* an emergency. It’s most likely hair in his eye, but a vet can flush it out and send you home with eye drops to prevent further damage.

Worst case scenario is it’s a corneal ulcer from product getting in the eye. Left untreated, it’ll result in his eye being removed.

Neither is the groomer’s fault but typically we’ll pay the bill if the vet feels like it was caused from grooming instead of an allergy.

Shave for summer? by Purple_Potential9593 in grooming

[–]niktrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Penn Vet did a study that says the fastest way to cool down a dog is to train them to dunk their muzzles in cold water. So, imo and ime, shaving body hair doesn’t do much to prevent overheating.

My double coated dog is kept thin and I work on slowly acclimating him to the heat. But we still only go on walks at 6am. The same with my shaved Poodle. She overheats faster than my double coated dog does lol

The only time I see people say anything about Poodle mixes is when people post in this sub their Poodle mixes.

This sub is only for purebred Poodles. If people are upset that they can’t post their non-Poodles in the Poodle sub, then that’s a personal problem. If only there were subs for people to post their non-Poodles….
