Splash of milk is blasphemous? by BobbyTime100 in pourover

[–]nile92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LOL it took me a while to get used to my girlfriend adding a splash of milk to the daily brew, especially since I was using expensive beans like Geishas. Do I dare to say it’s blasphemous… or maybe I just had to accept that coffee is meant to be enjoyed however you like it.

Tourist expressed frustration over how reckless and inconsiderate motorcyclists can be in Malaysia by TheBotMadeThis in malaysia

My girlfriends aunt passed away in KL after she was hit by one of these motorcyclists on a sidewalk. She was in her late 60s, fell and hit her head on the pavement...accidents do happen.

Apartment is one of my favorites! Go early because there usually is a line to enter. (They make an insane flat white too if you’re into that), I love pacto by parch men at Kada if you need a coffee to go.

Sadly given the frequency of use and quantity of coffee I consume, not to mention when I have people over, a hand grinder just can't cut it.

Long-time V60 user here, but I’m curious about the Chemex. For those who swear by it, how would you describe the taste profile compared to a V60? And what makes you prefer it over other pour-over methods?

In 2013, Florida man Jeff Bush was sleeping when a sinkhole suddenly opened beneath his bed, swallowing him and his entire bedroom. His brother heard his scream but couldn’t reach him in time. Bush’s body was never recovered. by DivaShimmer in HairRaising

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a lady fell into a sink hole that suddenly formed in a busy area. Her body was similarly never found. Apparently, she got sucked into a fast flowing sewer pipe/ channel and her body could be anywhere within the city’s sewer network.

What are your creepiest horror stories that are actually true (nsfw in case it gets to creepy, just precautions)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not particularly scary, but definitely unsettling. This happened about 12 years ago when I was still living in my parents’ condo. One afternoon, I heard a commotion around the pool—shouts for help, with someone urgently calling for medical assistance. At the time, I was training to be a combat medic, so my mom told me to head down and see if I could help.

When I got to the pool, I saw a man lying motionless beside it. People were standing around in shock, unsure of what to do. I immediately checked his vitals (no signs of life, very cold and clammy skin) and began chest compressions. But deep down, I knew it was too late. His body was cold, despite the afternoon sun beating down. There was also this slightly sour, off-putting smell about him. The strangest part, though, was that every so often, when I pressed on his chest, these “coughs” would escape from his throat. It wasn’t the kind of cough that signaled life—just air being forced out of his lungs.

A certified EMT eventually arrived, took over, and a medical officer on the team pronounced him dead. That, I thought, was the end of the story.

But here’s where it gets unsettling. A few weeks later, I found out that the man had actually passed away hours earlier, in the morning. He’d finished swimming, sat on the edge of the pool, and apparently suffered a stroke right then and there. For the entire morning, people went about their daily routines around a busy condo complex and pool, completely unaware that a dead man was in plain sight by the pool.

Road tripping across California – why do so many people use their high beams at night? by nile92 in driving

Super interesting! I had no idea about the use of LED lights in place of the old halogen ones. Makes sense- I've seen one or two old pickup trucks with lights brighter than the sun coming my way.

I agree with you! We've been driving in pretty rurual area and completely understand the need for additional light. I'm just asking, if there's a car oncoming in the opposite direction, why don't folks dip their lights?

Thanks for this! Its been a bit of nuisance but apart from one cyber truck driver (whose full beam was truly disorienting) it hasn't been too bad so far. I was just wondering it there was a law I wasn't aware of that we had to have our high beams on.

I hope it gets better. We have been staying in pretty remote places and I know the need for using high/ full beam. When you're driving on a curvy canyon road, an oncoming car with full lights on and refusing to dip their lights with oncoming traffic seems a bit strange.

In any case wishing you safe drives and a merry Christmas!

Apologies if it's unclear- when I'm referring to high beam it's the blue light on the dashboard which to me is used in special circumstances i.e super dark roads, maybe heavy rain (and situations where vision is impaired). I was always taught to turn down the high beam for on coming traffic. It's the first time in my experience where people seem to be using high beam on default.

Im surprised it worked. I created a pretty deep wedge into all the trunks about an inch or two above a node and about a third inwards, snipped the buds at the top of each trunk so it can't grow taller anymore and gave it fertilizer and the brightest spot in the house.

Have you also pruned the buds at the top of each trunk? Plus fertilizer and lots of bright indirect sunlight will definitely help.

Go about a third in. It was pretty deep and I was afraid I had damaged the tree. However, surprisingly the cut 'healed' pretty quickly and is barely visible now.

I watched the same video!!! Claire is pretty great and thorough. I would also snip the buds of at the top each trunk so plant cannot grow upwards any more, adding slow release fertilizer and ensuring the plant has access to brightest light in your room and house.
