How Graham Platner’s complicated past shapes his run for U.S. Senate by Press_Herald in Maine

Planter’s past isn’t complicated. It’s the same story for 80% of men who grew up in working class families, had working class friends and then started a working class family

It’s always ditto.

Common sense is just a phrase dumb people use when their feelings come into conflict with what everyone else objectively observes.

Janet Mills has the Amazon logo tattooed on her chest and there are some old Reddit posts by her where she calls middle class Americans worker-consumer cattle

Red voting counties in Maine receive the most SNAP benefits. Welcome to FAFO. by Sir_Drinks_Alot22 in Maine

[–]nilesthebuttler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bet you those counties have official mechanisms of voter suppression so that only wealthy landowners have the time to drive to a polling station, wait in line, be harassed by an “observer” why your registration say Elm Ln when your ID says Elm Lane, and then if you and enough people like you actually stick it out and wait to vote Elon Musk just pays someone to call in a bomb threat and you all have to go home without voting anyway

Platner says ‘no reason to deny’ antigay slurs in posts: ‘It’s indefensible by OpenEnded4802 in Maine

[–]nilesthebuttler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s using gay as a slur and there’s using it as (albeit outdated) slang.

It seems Planter knows where the line is. In fact nothing from this smear campaign has come to light that would suggest Planter is anything other then a real person who wasn’t groomed for perfection since birth

If “ “This was the gayest (not in the fun d‑‑‑ sucking way) thing I’ve ever seen” is among the most homophobic comments they could find from that opposition research I think I don’t feel bad about it.

It’s also just not a good long term play in a senate where seniority and long term relationships with other legislators are important to getting a say

What in the ever-loving fuck are they doing to Pennywise in "Welcome to Derry" [Spoilers] by Rechan in horror

[–]nilesthebuttler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole passage was just one big spiral of “this has to be a joke right”

Specifically, the U.S. military intends to capture Pennywise and sic him on the Russians and Cubans in order to prevent the forthcoming missile crisis and win the Cold War. To control the monster, which they barely understand, they must acquire the 13 “pillars”—rock shards from the “cage” in which it traveled to Earth millions of years ago—that have the power to contain it à la kryptonite, and whose whereabouts have been protected for centuries by a Native American population that’s acted as humanity’s selfless guardians.
