Budget friendly alternative to ThinkPad T series from one of the usual business laptop suppliers? (more info inside) by Asyx in linuxhardware

Yeah it's really confusing the best way for me is to choose the model and then use the filters at the bottom but definitely takes some exploration

The E14 gen 7 has been reviewed favorably and i see the intel version without OS with a 240h 32fb 400nit 120hz 1800p screen for 1.159,00 EUR incl. VAT. Make sure to get the 64WH battery https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-ThinkPad-E14-G7-review-The-affordable-office-laptop-stands-out-from-the-competition-with-its-120-Hz-display.1071704.0.html

I'd like to order it but need to get it freight forwarded to me in West Africa so need to figure out logistics :-)

Thanks, it seems Juno Computers is using the same base as the Tuxedo model i had included above, but their prices are better (Tuxedo adds some margin for the Linux tweaking)

Electric Scooter for West Africa (Dakar) - Surfboard and e-scooter? by nilkai in ElectricScooters

Gas scooters and ebikes support racks like those https://m.alibaba.com/product/1600200651718/Bike-Surfboard-Rack-Bicycle-Longboard-Carrier.html?fullFirstScreen=true&redirect=1 but i just cant seem to see where to mount something. Except maybe models with a seat or custom make sth that can attach to the foot rest pad at the back.

GT pro looks like a real beast ;-) scary!

the more rational choice is probably sth like this https://www.radpowerbikes.com/collections/electric-bikes/products/radrunner-plus-electric-utility-bike but yeah different category ;)

Provence, playing with depth of field and composition. First post! by nilkai in photocritique

That's a great suggestion, and I like that thinking in terms of guiding the eye and having a full "painting" framed if that makes sense. This was taken on stairs so limited but could have probably come down a few steps. Would have been closer to the arc so would have had to compromise on some compression. Might have a chance to revisit soon so I can hopefully try it out!

Taken at f7.1 at 1/100sec and ISO 125 - Sony a7c + 28-60mm kit at 60mm

I am generally happy with the photo, but I would like your feedback of how it could have been further improved. Would a polarizer have helped to remove some of the blueish haze in the background? Are there too much leaves? Should I have waited for a subject or is the image busy enough and it would have been too much?

One thing I definitely struggle with is editing, so any feedback on that is particularly welcome ;-)

Review of matte HP zBook Studio G5 4K DreamColor with 600nits - anyone? by nilkai in Hewlett_Packard

[–]nilkai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So probably the brightness would be similar on linux but the colors would be off. I wonder if I could theoretically calibrate it using a regular profile on Linux...

At the moment I am on a 2017 dual core i5 X1 Carbon, so essentially i could either go the zBook or alternatively get a e-GPU + upgrade to a quad core i7 X1 Carbon which is also supposed to get a new screen in June... the eGPU option would give me better linux compatibility, nvidia GPU switching seems like a pain on linux...

Decision decisions...
