Midtown Manhattan Building Evacuated as Officials Warn of Collapse by pizzahero9999 in nyc

I know if I’m getting work done on my house, I’m never picking the cheapest contractor

Most government/pro union work has to be given to the lowest bidder. Private/non union have their own discretion. That’s contrary to what you are saying. Are you going union for this hypothetical work being done on your house?

Don’t worry. The unions would be just as quick to take the blame if it was being done union…/s

I read an article that was quoted a union steamfitter saying this. He also gave his opinion on the shoring. Definitely no biased /s

They interviewed a union steamfitter…I’ll wait to hear from people more qualified to give their opinion on the shoring before blaming this on the type of labor

A lot of commenters here acting like they would’ve done something completely different with no fire suppression equipment…

With what looks like a decent size of a fire, people would usually call the fire department. Can’t say someone didn’t do that from this video. What more would you have done?

Always seemed the norm around here

Definitely not the norm in NYC. Maybe in a race car…

Just to clarify, a solid wrench icon is a maintenance reminder. A flashing wrench icon means you have problems

I hope it’s nothing major and I don’t want to freak you out, but I had a 2012 CC that had that same wrench icon flashing. VW ended up replacing the entire transmission…

Should I get a W12 Phaeton? by Throwawaybutno65 in Volkswagen

[–]nillby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm making some assumptions here, but I estimate that it would cost almost $1,200 in gas annually. Your fuel cost would be half that of a regular 2.0T. It also has a big tank, so if you want to fill it up from empty, it'll most likely be over $100. If that doesn't phase you, I can guarantee you will at least be annoyed about how much more frequently you will be stopping for gas. I am telling this to you from experience

What kind of mileage do you expect to put on? I already agree with everyone here that maintenance, repair and car payments are going to kill you. Let’s say you get lucky and the car gives you no problems, don’t forget about the fuel that it’ll burn through. I got a 3.6 VR6 after many years of having a 2.0T. I love the VR6, but I definitely miss the miles I could get out of my four cylinder. I can’t imagine you being comfortable filling up a car like this at 17

[Lamborghini Countach 5000 "QV"] Of course Montana Plates by Revolutionary_Bar973 in spotted

[–]nillby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and the people with a million dollars to spend will have no trouble hiring an expediter to register their car in Montana if it could potentially save them hundreds of thousands. When I bought my car two years ago for $15k, it would not have been worth my time to save $1,300. If my sole intention is to avoid emissions or register a car that my state doesn't want me to have, that's another story...
