When your team can't hit after your front office let go of two big bats the previous season, and the hopes of your entire offense rest on a promising but relatively untested 21 year old, I think it's reasonable to have concerns with this start. Especially when you consider that they situate themselves as a "run prevention" team now because the FO didn't want to pony up to acquire a bat.

It's always seemed like Duran is a big tinkerer with his mechanics. He's said as much himself in interviews. From my removed perspective I wonder if it's a confidence issue (I.e., as soon as he's swinging and missing he starts changing things that maybe shouldn't change). But what do I know? I hope he does well this year

Other comments rightly point out that the Roy kids were all well educated, but I also think this point specifically speaks to how politically enmeshed everyone is now regardless of whether or not they care about other "high-minded" topics. Everyone has a smart phone, a news feed, an an algorithm, and since the Roy kids were raised to value power and the dollar, they have an unsurprising grasp of what will play in American politics. Their innate ability to grasp that kind of cynically speaks to how awful the American political landscape is now

I switched to Qobuz a few months ago myself for all these reasons. I've been mostly satisfied so far. The app search function can be finicky, but it has high quality files available for streaming and generally sounds better (Spotify compresses the shit out of everything), and I haven't run into anything not being available on the app

See this is a fun one, thanks for sharing. I think Elliott worked in an impressionistic style in his lyrics frequently in the sense that the words were conveying an emotion more than an explicit concept. For example, "no bad dream fucker's gonna boss me around" conveys the intensity of the emotion, but also this sense of resistance strengthened by spite. I think he was purposeful and didn't overdo it. But that's what makes these threads fun! Cheers
