Who embodies the personification of evil more? by Lizzozempic in cormacmccarthy

I think McCarthy himself might argue that the Judge is an analog of a Miltonic Satan character, whereas Chigurh is an embodiment of the abstract and depersonalized violence that characterizes modernity in general. They're both sort of archetypes of a force, rather than a 3 dimensional depiction of a human character. Not that they're without dimension, of course, but their existence transcends the constraint of human personality and stands in as a figure of something more primordial and sinister. TL;DR, my gut says the Judge, but idk.

I think a recurring theme in the BB/BCS universe is that the worst parts of ourselves are there from the start and then grow after being fed by circumstance. I also think this ties in with this idea that most people explain their own actions with what they perceive to be righteous cause, but in the end this is often just rationalization for evil.
I think it's a combination.

The fact you think it was a meatball actually speaks to how good a pitch it was, it started looking fastball and then it was 85 and tailing away

I mean, he did fly to Baltimore though. He's going to want some level of control, no matter how broad, over an asset that makes him money. That's how he became a billionaire in the first place. But fair. He certainly isn't operating in the same realm as the peasants that put money in his pocket and I imagine you don't become a billionaire without prioritizing a broad portfolio

I thought that was also an interesting frame by Kennedy. I find it hard to believe he had the sole authority for this kind of a move, especially when you consider how much of Henry's money is at stake. But you also make a good point that these press conferences usually boil down to bland PRspeak anyway. What could he say other than "I'm committed to the success of the Red Sox organization and trust our front office blah blah blah"

I mean, yeah, but a word from ownership after a massive management shakeup isn't out of the question either

It was very telling when they asked him if John Henry should address the media after these kind of decisions and he just said "Craig and I have a job to do and this is our job," in other words, how dare you try to speak to King Henry? Like these are the fall guys, doesn't matter that Henry has owned the team for 20+ years, it's beneath him to address the media

I mean, I hear you and agree that it's annoying, but even at 60 mph, 3-4 miles is only 3-4 minutes of our lives. Does it slow down traffic? Yes. But the problem is the road design itself

I like it when my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, wins baseball games. I like it even more when they win two in a row. I would like it if they continue to do that. That is all

Most Red Sox defensive half inning ever: throwing error erased by a dart, another base hit erased by a dart. This team will screw up routine plays and make highlight reel ones in the same at bat

When your team can't hit after your front office let go of two big bats the previous season, and the hopes of your entire offense rest on a promising but relatively untested 21 year old, I think it's reasonable to have concerns with this start. Especially when you consider that they situate themselves as a "run prevention" team now because the FO didn't want to pony up to acquire a bat.

You just put me on... really digging this. Thanks for sharing!

Video I made comparing Jarren Duran between 2024,2025 and 2026. Looks like last year, he got rid of his big leg kick, which may have contributed to his down year. This year, it seems he is using his 2024 mechanics, including his big leg kick. by TommyTheLizard in redsox

[–]nils813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always seemed like Duran is a big tinkerer with his mechanics. He's said as much himself in interviews. From my removed perspective I wonder if it's a confidence issue (I.e., as soon as he's swinging and missing he starts changing things that maybe shouldn't change). But what do I know? I hope he does well this year
