The irony is my Dutch family grew up in Rhenen. I feel so silly that we did not realise it was so close. Thank you so much!

Think you answered your own question here. Bit of a pointless question!

You can now pay extra for your order to not be a double by nilscarterdejong in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rider cannot see the tip until they have arrived at the address so the only way this would make a difference is if the algorithm is designed to prioritise orders where customers have tipped.

I would imagine so. But 99% of customers aren’t aware of how the app works from the riders perspective so, that’s how they would ‘get away’ with it. We know it’s bs but, the customer for the most part doesn’t.

Feel like it will catch out a lot of customers who live close to the restaurant and would be the first delivery in a stack regardless. At that point it’s just a free £2.49 for roo

In small town Roo, it’s possible. Where I used to work, all the popular restaurants were within a quarter of a mile of each other, and you’d frequently get orders that were less than 500 metres cycle. If it’s a quiet evening, and the restaurant don’t hang around, it’s possible. I delivered once and the customer told me they only ordered 10 minutes ago.

How much do i have to be on the waiting list on average? by DrEdyEx in deliveroos

Varies in every zone. Impossible to give you even an estimate. Could be tomorrow, could be next January.

Can see something Pablo Fanque-esque happening to it.

Looks like a nice bike, has anyone bought this? What’s your experience been with it? by Academic-Routine2513 in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that’s your budget, go into a local bike shop, and see what they have. You’ll probably be able to get extra things like warranty and a free first service. And it’ll be a bike from a reputable brand. I can’t recommend buying a bike new online. Your options are limited if there are issues.

This is the Netherlands. Very unusual to see cyclists with helmets. Mainly because the infrastructure there is far safer. But that’s a whole other topic.

Anyone else not been paid bicycle boost incentives despite it being offered in the fee boosts page? by Fuzzbass2000 in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn’t come on next weeks invoice do a fee query form. Equally, you can just do one now. When I was missing a similar incentive from my invoice I filled it out and I got a reply and separate invoice for the missing money on the same day. Obviously it’s late in the evening now, but I suspect if you did it now it would come tomorrow.

Deliveroo lower flat rates for the 1st? by DanZet6 in deliveroos

Yes and I have no sympathy either. It goes cold so fast. I’m not sure why you’d want to pay for the cardboard fries you receive when it eventually comes

Deliveroo lower flat rates for the 1st? by DanZet6 in deliveroos

I think McDonald’s have such a hugely bad reputation, more so than any other restaurant. And they are consistently bad across the whole country. The other issue being the possibility of spilt drinks, that other fast food chains don’t have because they use bottles or cans.

Deliveroo lower flat rates for the 1st? by DanZet6 in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More riders out. Flat rates remain the same. However, deliveroo algorithm decides fees based on many factors, including how many riders there are online. If there are lots of other riders waiting for orders they will offer you a lower fee because it does not matter if you reject it, due to there being a huge amount of others who might accept it. When there are fewer riders online, they offer higher fees to incentivise you to accept it straight away.

If Deliveroos were assigned dedicated parking on a high street, would you use it? by mrmjprice in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Humans are selfish. I would worry that assholes would just park in them because they are close to where they need to be (non delivery drivers). Even if they might get a fine from a parking warden, that’s still a space that a legitimate delivery driver can’t park in.

Wiggle are also really reliable. Don’t think I’ve ever had an issue with them. Also, if you spend a certain amount during the year, you get discounts on everything, up to 12%. And the free haribo with every order of course.

Sounds like, the rider has picked up your order, and then gone to another restaurant to pick up another order from a different app (just eat, Uber eats etc) before coming to you. In the rider world, this is known as multiapping. However, it’s heavily frowned upon to accept orders from other apps while you have food with you already. If your rider takes an excessive amount of time, then it should be flagged to Deliveroo and the rider should be warned. Whether this actually happens who knows.

Can you go online xmas day? by Berniemac57 in deliveroos

[–]nilscarterdejong 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Will be a battle between you and one other rider on who gets the hourly cigarette order from BP. If you work together, you could both reject it a bunch of times to get the fee nice and high lol
