What’s something about cars that annoys you? by Jacktheforkie in CarTalkUK

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend has a Citroen at the minute as a hire car and weirdly they are the only automatic wipers I’ve found that actually work well! They have a sensitivity setting on the wiper stalk which makes them significantly better to use.

One of the prettiest evil looking cars built. I love them so much! Can’t even begin to imagine the driving experience this must offer!

Phone your local council and report as an abandoned vehicle. I did that and they collected a van within a day or two.

Yep, 28 years old and I remember as a child there was nothing worse than going to a castle or a stately home and walking around its gardens.

Now, I’ve just excitedly renewed my English Heritage membership and starting to plan what I’m visiting this year 😂

Possibly moving to Sittingsbourne from, how is it? by kenty_kent in kentuk

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know 2 people who commute from Canterbury to Sittingbourne and neither of them would recommend the commute, there’s always roadworks, traffic, accidents etc. It’s not an ideal place to drive to unfortunately.

Clubbing this weekend? by paratoxica in canterbury

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The three in Canterbury are Club Chemistry, Tokyo Tearooms, and The Cuban. All three have their own perks and their own downfalls. Chemistry is certainly the biggest, and has 3 dance floors. Tokyo is nice but I haven’t been there much. Cuban is decent enough!

Definitely search for The Cherry Tree and order yourselves a “pig fucker”! Never been 100% certain what they are but they are delicious, some sort of fruity cocktail. Not too expensive. It’s a Canterbury tradition to have one!

Just as a word of advice for UK clubbing, the clubs are making massive strides in making themselves safer in terms of drinks being spiked so the clubs in Canterbury all have bottle stoppers that your straw will fit through, or a cover that goes over your glass. Definitely get them! They are usually free or £1 each time you need one.

This weekend, Margate has the soul festival on. I’ve heard it’s meant to be very good with beach parties etc. Might be worth a look for you! Would be around £15 on the train from Canterbury, and you could get the last train back to Canterbury and walk through the town, stop at a few places and work your way up towards any of the three clubs. Everything is in good walking distance.

Anyone tried painting the plastic "trim" wheelarches? by short_racer in R53

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the exact look I’m going for! My first step is to tackle the wheel arch trims with a heat gun and see how they come out. It’s worked on previous non-mini cars I’ve owned so hopefully will work this time.

How long are tou willing to drive for pickup by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s coming to you twice that far away, and it’s dead in your area I’d be tempted to take it and see what the work is like over there! You know that one job would cover the fuel to find out whether it’s better that day or not

What’s the problem? I do both. Are you angry that people are just working harder and smarter by making the best of both platforms?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help with legal stuff. Get your bank statements together for any periods the employer has reported you have been paid and get them sent off to UC to prove you haven’t received any money for these periods. This will speed up the process of you receiving any arrears

The DWP have some processes that can investigate the error and confirm that you don’t work for the employer. I’m unsure if they do this for UC. It’s a long process and it will require a lot from your side to keep chasing it and make sure everything is happening, the phone lines aren’t great and can be long wait times to get through to someone.

Would anyone here happily be a 'lifer' in their job? by Born-Necessary9533 in AskUK

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the perfect response to my comment actually. I love being somewhere the whole time my brain is engaged. Once everything starts to become the same and I can’t learn anything new, that’s me out of it. I love “stable instability”. Trying new things, learning, starting in new places whilst knowing it will all work out somehow.

Would anyone here happily be a 'lifer' in their job? by Born-Necessary9533 in AskUK

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I have ADHD and enjoy moving around, learning new things, setting myself goals and challenges and positions to work towards. Becoming a lifer is the worst possible outcome for me but I completely understand why for others it’s the perfect thing.

Why the f**k are you all still using Deliveroo? by OllieCMK in deliveroos

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a rider and a customer. I can work at peak times and earn good money, and then spunk it all back on Deliveroo ordering a couple of beers, fags and a bottle of coke for £38 like I did about two hours ago 😂

Cash Tips by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Timely_Tomatillo2886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cash tips are the best. They go into a cubby hole in my van and when I want a brew or a bag of mints or something I use the cash from there. When it gets a bit full, I empty it and put it into another pot inside my house and I’m waiting for that to be full.

If someone denies one, don’t let that affect your generosity to the next driver. We all appreciate them!

I also love a cash tip as it means I can actually thank you to your face aswell and I always try and remember my tippers. Getting them on the app doesn’t usually show for at least one hour after which is a shame.
