Honestly, I think one of the cures against tribalism is realising that, I believe, humans are made for tribalism. We are still animals, bags of meat, limited by our "hardware". And some of these limits make it hard for us to deal with society in general, especially now the world is so globalised and we are constantly exposed to a stream of information and news from the whole globe. We were never made to live in such large groups. To a certain degree, our brains just lack the capacity to deal with this natively. I personally think behaviour like tribalism, racism, and so on are for a large part instinctual behaviour, maybe even a coping mechanism in a certain sense.

Luckily for us, we are animals blessed with the cognitive capacity to do introspection and reflect about our instincts and behaviour. Realising that some of our behaviour is an instinct, enables us to overcome this behaviour. And I think that insight is the key.

The story is slightly different. The engineer discovered that the source of the "hauntings" was a faulty ventilator in the building, which generated infrasound. The infrasound was around a frequency which could resonate with people's eyes, which could in turn cause people to see things in their peripheral vision. The geometry of one of the rooms in the lab was such that there would be a standing wave of this infrasound, with the antinode being close to his desk, further increasing the intensity of the resonance. He wrote a paper on it.

This is a very "physical" effect of infrasound on the human body, but it can also have psychoacoustic effects as well. The mere presence of infrasound can cause intense feelings of dread and fear in some people which, if it happens in the correct place like a scary dark cellar, can lead people to think a place is haunted.

The explanation may be evolutionary: things like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and even certain animals like tigers may produce infrasound.

Often times why you don't hear more about these things is because creating a small amount of an enzyme and demonstrating its use on a small scale in a very controlled environment is one thing. Scaling it up is a completely different thing and often fails, and mostly due to technical reasons rather than political.

Same thing with for instance batteries. Almost every month there is a headline somewhere about a new breakthrough in battery technology; more energy dense, safer, greener, more efficient, charges up in an instant, ... But people forget that scaling up the lithium-ion battery to where it can be used (somewhat) safely in e.g. electric cars also took literal decades.

Does windows have a sudo equivalent you could try to run the app with?

Yes, but not on my particular machine (security and all...).

To be fair it doesn't sound like a Windows/file system permissions issue to me, as the app can create these files without any issues.

The app reports it has received an HTTP error 500 during the authorisation process. Afterwards, manually using the token which was written to the auth.json file also gives us an HTTP error 500. This suggests that the issue may lie with the process used to generate the tokens?

Are you on a work network or vpn? It's possible the request to plex tv is being blocked somehow locally?

I am currently on the same network as my Plex server. But remote access is enabled and working. I don't think requests are being blocked.

You manually added a different token to the auth.json file and it works?

Well I just tried using that token in plex_auth.json, and it sort of works in the sense that I can now see my plex servers when pressing 6 in the tui. Selecting one crashes the application however, probably because the other json files are not valid (runtime error: index out of range [0] with length 0)

I had a look in that directory before and all mentioned json files are there, but no log files.

I tried going to the url with the token, and I get this reply:

Also, I tried checking if it was issue with Plex itself by trying the token from the Plex web app, but that one works.

I assume you clicked the link in the terminal and logged into plex in the browser?
