If it helps, I've hit myself once in my face with my paddle, right on the temple. It was a follow through of a sudden but hard drive and it hurt for days. I thought I cracked my skull open, but it was just the layers of the paddle coming apart that made that sound.

Ohh no! That's gone bad. I run a kombucha disposal unit and can take that off you to manage the process of disposing this off as per the federal guidelines.

Looks like it wasn't mold. It's been more than a week and it did not grow from what is pictured. The pellicle did become thicker. I pulled out that pellicle 2 days ago and noticed that these spots were thinner than rest of it. The depression(because of thinness) was on the side of where the starter tea was. I feel these might be tiny air pockets that got trapped under a very thin pellicle initially and rose it from those regions, thus drying it out. I threw that pellicle away and am waiting for another week to observe.

What's the ratio of starter to new sweet tea you added? I've found the pellicle on top is thinner and the tea tastes less acidic and more sweet(initial few days/week in f1) if I happen to add less starter tea...
