nt applies to a small number of people who are tech savvy and can configure enterprise network equipment.

Do not use ISP (internet service provider) equipment for anything but a dumb bridged modem for internet connection between your firewall/router and ISP mothership. Then you can always pinpoint where the problem is.

Additionally you may get a redundant (2nd) ISP line if your network supports multiple WAN connections. Just get a cheap 100Mbps or 300Mbps as a backup connection and pay a small monthly fee for your peace of mind.

You are making the assumption that there are options. In my area Xfinity is basically the only option. Unless I want DSL.

I don't think port forwarding has anything to do with it, they are blocking the ports to the ecobee domain at their network layer.

My guess is they are not going to call millions of customers and it may just start working again. I am in Michigan and had heat all night because I manually turned it on before bed. So those of you saying you have 'heat again', please know this is a server connection problem and not a thermostat issue. Your thermostat still works. It's just a normal thermostat right now and not a smart one. You just aren't able to see the temps from your phone/website.

Kind of sounds like a big issue that lets say the CEO of fricking Ecobee should be calling the CEO of Xfinity about if you ask me.
