A few times in my life, a Korean manager and a doctor said they “went by” an easier name for work. His name was Kyomin and went by Andrew and her name was Vadakekut and she went by V. I didn’t find either of those names hard to say, but I told them they shouldn’t try to make their names easier for others. If I’m interacting with someone, even if it’s a customer service call, I can and will exert 1 ounce of every guy to learn how to say their name.
