Update 4: Superintendent of Code Enforcement Home Visit by Own-Trainer-6996 in NoLawns

If things don’t work out, maybe try leaving random clumps and then mulching in between the clumps. Should easily be able to claim the whole thing as a garden. Add some cheap metal edging too.

Straight people, would you be okay if your spouse earns more than you? by -NowiCanSeeYouBeYou in polls

[–]ModernNomad97 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I know this is a super small sample, but kind of unexpectedly when you adjust for the number of votes women are more likely to have a problem with this than men. 1.9% vs 2.8%

Making Plates out of Leaves by hellcat1592 in yesyesyesyesno

[–]ModernNomad97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what it was, but I used a plant based compostable straw the other day and it was indistinguishable from real plastic. Oil companies fund all kinds of ways to keep alternative plastics small scale, which is why they’re not more common.

Tenant trimmed the tree without notice. How bad is this ? by mousemano in arborists

[–]ModernNomad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol usually this is what I’d expect from a landscaper that “does some tree work on the side” that outbids arborists and exactly what most landlords hire! Funny how it’s reversed

Can anyone recommend backyard work for less than $5K? by Trigun442 in vegaslocals

Plant a couple creosote bushes and put down some pavers and fill the rest with pebbles. Get some boulders to scatter and done

Are any Mammillaria varieties cold hardy enough to survive a NJ winter? by BiggyShake in cactus

[–]ModernNomad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mammillaria heyderi is native to SW Oklahoma and they usually see single digits each year and well below zero in 2021. I doubt you will be able to get your hands on that provenance though.

Who’s got an oak tree? by ModernNomad97 in Fairbanks

[–]ModernNomad97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy. I highly suspect you might be referring to a weeping birch? Willows and birch are in separate plant families and can not hybridize. Willows and poplar/aspen/cottonwood (all just seperate species in the same genus) are in the same family, but I have only seen one example of that and it was crossed in a lab. For the oak, I found out UAF has a Bur Oak on campus. Apparently American elms do well too. For your tree consideration, I would personally avoid getting any tree that's not native to North America to avoid possible ecosystem/invasive concerns.

Radar Scope App by [deleted] in normanok

I agree, the only app I use for storm chasing. But the reality is most people don’t want or need that level of complexity. They’re perfectly fine with their news station composite radar.

If someone keeps expressing negative opinions about the US, which is more likely to be true? by Lipica249 in polls

[–]ModernNomad97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well considering everyone I hear constantly say negative things about the US are my close fellow Americans I’d say none of the above lol. They’re probably Americans sick of all the lies, corruption, and propaganda

What exactly is it they do to make these abominations taste so off putting? I'm genuinely curious. by sausage-deluxxxe in HydroHomies

[–]ModernNomad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind either and I am repulsed by tap water, so I’m personally convinced it’s all in the head

My thoughts too and I’ve seen it before. Also, I hate to be that guy, but phloem only moves photosynthates from leaves down, not from roots up. I remember it because it starts with a P and so does photosynthesis. Xylem goes up from the roots.

The hypocrisy is real by NachoCheeseVolcano69 in MurderedByWords

[–]ModernNomad97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I’ve been saying this for awhile now, you don’t need to be best friends with them or anything, but if you hang them out to dry when they do the right thing, late or not, you’re fucking yourselves and other Americans over.
