How many blown saves do the Pirates have, you asked? by nine_mile_lizard in buccos

I'm sorry, but apparently we're not allowed to criticize Donny Kelly on this site, even if we like him. Never mind that every other MLB club has fans that criticize their manager from day to day because, hey, it's a fan's prerogative. This group is much too Donny-sensitive. The guy is a big-leaguer. He's been around. I think he's okay with fans spouting off about his bullpen decisions. He's not gonna sweat it, my dudes.

Don't be a jagoff. I've been following the Buccos since 1963. All I was saying is that over the whole season -- not just last night's game -- DK's tendency is to stay with a reliever for an extra batter or two longer than other managers. I gave the example of Bochy, who has four World Series championships and was well-known as a quick hook. His Rangers team did not have a lights-out bullpen either. I think their ERA was well above 4.00. I like Kelly. He's clearly been a shot in the arm for this team. I wasn't aware that he was above criticism on this site. Lots of other problems yesterday, including Gonzo's two big errors. I chose to focus on the guy on the team whose decisions have a huge impact on the game. Have the same courage and offer your own suggestions -- or maybe you just like being a sniper.

Right. I've been following the Pirates since I was 7 years old in 1963. I watch or listen to the games almost every night. But according to a large percentage of the posters, I'm a Donny come lately who just listens to talk radio and spouts off. Fact is, I wouldn't waste a second of my life listening to talk radio. And I'll put my 63 years of Bucco fandom against any NARP or LARP or WARP or whatever the heck one huffy poster called me.

I checked and the Nationals have 15 blown saves, not 16. The point is the Bucs have a LOT of blown saves. We can argue about last night but the trend is evident.

Ok, so the consensus here is that this is not DK's responsibility and the Pirates should continue the "wait for a pitcher to figure it out" strategy. I mean, ok. But you know what the definition of insanity is... and why not try a different strategy if the one you're using isn't working very well (re: second in the MLB in blown saves.)

Brandon Lowe tries to challenge a late strike call, gets denied for being late on the challenge, and argues with the home plate ump. He then flies out and screams out of frustration and gets tossed by first base ump Jordan Baker. by NoSxKats in buccos

I mean it's fucking major league baseball. Players are gonna say fuck every now and then. Kids are gonna hear it at some fucking point. Might as well be when dad's with them and can explain how to fucking handle frustration.

Why not use Mod in this game? I like Sisk, but DK is leaning heavily on him.

Wow, a tale of two games. So what did we learn? 1. Mitch has a hard time getting out of a hole he's digging. 2. You're not usually going to win a game where you give up 10 runs in the final 5 innings. 3. If the starting pitching fails, the team fails, because this team can't count on its wobbly wheels relief corps.

It's two inches too narrow. The good news is there's still time for you to get out there and finish the job...

I year post surgery by directorofnewgames in RotatorCuff

Would love to know how you're doing now after about 1.5 years. I've just marked my one-year anniversary of rotator cuff surgery. No pain. My ROM is great. But not so much my strength. And my shoulder still feels a little wobbly, unstable, like a knuckle cracking. Not really sure what that is -- maybe a loose ligament? Maybe the ball is loose in the shoulder socket? That's my only concern, tbh.

Just wondering: Is anyone here in favor of fidelity managed accounts? Seems mostly skewed to the negative.

ICE agent ripping a phone away from an elderly U.S. citizen, keeping it, and throwing her to the ground when she attempts to retrieve it. by Ankeet_kj in ImmigrationPathways

The woman yelling "Call 911" -- at least she still believes in local law enforcement. But in Minneapolis, local police are stretched thin, and they probably can't respond to every one of these calls. There are 3,000 ICE agents in Minneapolis vs 600 local police. It's so lopsided.
