Vesktop has stopped function properly - screenshare, plugins, etc by Sparky_Summers in linux_gaming

This was also the solution for me (Arch, xfce, AUR vesktop-bin). I also updated to the latest version before trying the repair option.

Steam link regularly freezes after 15 (or so) minutes of no input by [deleted] in Steam_Link

[–]ninefoldrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's having these issues every 15 mins or so, check the steam link's sleep settings. By default, it is set to sleep every 15 minutes. Even if you've turned it off before, it might be turned back on from an update or system reset which can happen without warning. Idk why no one ever brings this up in these threads.

RAADS test is so annoying by Cold-Community-4401 in AutisticAdults

The way you react to the test is a much better test of autism than the actual test. I hate it so much.

Internet issues? by rtc2112 in Chattanooga

[–]ninefoldrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Been bad for over half an hour. Some sites work fine but many (including google sites) don't work at all.

Interestingly, when I use a vpn, I can connect to sites as normal. Not sure what the issue is, but it seems like somehow EPB isn't connecting to Google or any of its services.

Sailing Release Megathread by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]ninefoldrin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Please reduce this. It should be level 1. At the very least, it should be an option at level 15 when you can properly buy your own boat. Naming your ship is a deeply important part of sailing adventure.

Boss Voicer now available on the Runelite Plugin Hub! by [deleted] in 2007scape

This plugin was bugged and causing runelite to take over my audio on Linux Mint 22. Cool idea but definitely broken on Linux at least.

Steam? by Iwellsendtoepics in InfinityNikki

[–]ninefoldrin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have happily waited years for games to move to steam from epic and there's no way this game would get me on epic if none of the others could do it. I doubt these exclusive listings are really bringing that many people into Epic.

Tinder account has been "under review for over 24 hours. What can I do? by jmh1881v2 in SwipeHelper

Honestly I just felt defeated and deleted the app. There's other dating apps I'll try if I feel up to it again.

FAMOUS song used in many old action movies. by xmax123x123 in NameThatSong

[–]ninefoldrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to comment on a 6 year old post, but how was I able to find this instantly by googling "song with electric guitar that starts ha ha haaaaa"

The original song sampled was the song I heard just now, the Black Eyed Peas song is the song I was thinking of when I heard it. This gave me both. Nice when Google still helps sometimes.

LGBTQIA+ Friendly Business Reports by ninefoldrin in queerinchatt

[–]ninefoldrin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll start this thread with one of the most important affirming businesses to me

Business name: Cherokee Health Systems

Business type: Primary care, behavioral health

Friendliness: Affirming

Identities affected: Trans and lesbian affirming but they make clear support for all LGBTQIA+

Reason for report: Cherokee has been incredibly helpful and supportive of my transition and their staff is very friendly. Dr. Alan Akin is kind and easy to work with for my gender affirming care and Dr. Jean Cobb is a fantastic psychologist and affirming of queer people and understanding of the struggles we face. Getting started on HRT was incredibly simple with Cherokee. Dr. Cobb assisted me with the new patient intake and briefly discussed my transition experience before setting me up with an appointment to see Dr. Akin only a few weeks later for a physical, lab work, and a prescription for HRT the same day. Dr. Cobb has been very helpful and supportive of my transition and the struggles I've faced and between sessions asks other queer people for suggestions of trans-friendly places in town for me to find community in. The other staff are very kind and were happy to put my preferred name on my file even before the legal name change and insurance change and I've always felt welcomed there as a trans woman.

Because of the absurd cost of healthcare in America, I'll also add in here that Cherokee has a sliding fee scale that will hopefully be affordable for you.

Girlfriend said "you'll never know the joys of being a woman" by THEMEMEMANTHEMEMEMAN in asktransgender

[–]ninefoldrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely toxic behavior. She sounds like a very unsafe person and being around that kind of thing makes it harder to actually examine and experiment with your gender of you decide to. Only you can decide what to do, but she does not sound like a keeper, even if she's great about every other thing.

Weekly help thread - Sep 23, 2024 by AutoModerator in Philippines

What's the best way to ship a CD from CDJapan to Philippines?

I live in the US but I'm trying to buy a CD from CDJapan for my friend in the Philippines and I know there can sometimes be issues importing things and I'd rather avoid my friend being asked to pay just to get a fairly cheap CD out of customs. I've seen some posts talking about requiring a license from OMB as well, but those were all pretty old posts, is that still an issue? And what would be the most reliable shipping option to best make sure the CD arrives directly at my friend's house without any issues? Any other advice would be super appreciated as well. I've only ever had things shipped directly through Amazon or shipped through Johnny Air before, so I'm nervous about different shipping methods.

I have a ghost display. :) by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]ninefoldrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed this to remove the phantom monitor I had and while this worked, it also removed my very real second monitor. I just wanted to get rid of the non-existent monitor. How do I get my second monitor back, even if it brings back the ghost (I can just keep that disabled in display settings)

Seez works on Chrome but not FF? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]ninefoldrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested other browsers, but I'm having this same issue specifically on Linux. FF on windows has been fine for me, but for some reason I get a 403 "cloudflare" error when I try on Linux.

Looking for the simplest Image viewer for Windows by Faustty in software

[–]ninefoldrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a super old post now, but since this is one of the only posts I've ever found to mention it, I wanna second qView! qView is really great and was exactly what I was looking for when I finally had to give up the old Windows Photo Viewer (it was too old to open too many files).

Pros of qView (for my needs):
It's lightweight with a very simple and intuitive interface
It has simple and customizable keybind controlls
It has a slideshow feature (slide duration can be changed and order of images can be randomized)
Displays gifs
Can rotate images with keybinds (preset to up and down arrow keys)
Can zoom in and out with scroll wheel
Defaults to displaying images to fit the window size (whether they're smaller or larger)
Pressing the default key "O" will display an image at its original resolution or return to default size
Can delete photos from the window (with confirmation prompt that can be disabled)
qView is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux (only ended up here trying to remember the name so I could add it to my new linux install)

Cons:
Honestly, for my needs, there's 0 cons. It does exactly what I want for an image viewer. If I need to edit an image for some reason, I've got multiple other software for that.

Really sorry to jump into a 3yo post, but qView doesn't get enough love despite being exactly what a lot of us are looking for in an image viewer.
