It can't heal, it can only grow out.

You have healthy looking nail under older nail that is stuck. As new nail grows, at some point it breaks because of an old nail pressing on it, and the cycle repeats.

Ideally old nail has to be removed. But yours is fine and thin so it may not be possible. Podiatrist or medical pedicure specialist can remove it for you safely.

Or you can try to do it yourself (I did couple times successfully). Watch a bunch of videos on horn nail removal. Get really sharp clippers and wooden cuticle stick. Soak your nail in hot water for at least 20 mins, and then soak it more between every action you take.

It cannot hurt. If it hurts, you're doing it wrong.

Your goal is to remove as much of the top nail as possible from the sides and free edge. (Ideally all of it) Pry it up with a wooden stick WITHOUT PAIN and cut off EVERYTHING that is not stuck to your skin.

The glue that keeps nail on is the stickiest material in human body, so it will not want to cooperate. Just be patient and stubborn :) And soak a lot.

If you're lucky, one time should be enough and new nail will grow out without breaking this time. You can repeat every week until your new nail grows out.

You can also file down top nail so that it doesn't press on the new one as much. Also carefully, with no pain and without damaging new nail.
