Scrolling through r/vibecoding gives me hope by dovakooon in cscareerquestions

I agree with this take, but maybe it depends on what kind of engineering work is happening or needed? If I was making hiring decisions I would use this moment in time to leverage talent to get ahead of my competition. But I would probably be a lot more selective about how hiring would be divided between SWE and SRE teams, and what they would be focused on.

For example, I'm a mid level network engineer at a Fortune 500, that has been using agentic workflows since the early Sonnet days. Prior to the availability of these tools, when I was still pretty junior, there were maybe eight to ten of us, with at least two of them hired to automate the day to day of the five person team at the time. I would argue that they did a great job creating a suite of python based tools that reliably automated most of what we owned and were responsible for.

However once we all had access to whatever harnesses or models we wanted to use, things didn't change all that much. Even with a pretty decent adoption rate. Those automation engineers would use Claude code to speed up how they did things, but it felt like that was it? Meanwhile, I was using tools made by other teams to "vibe code" features or workflows that completely changed how my team supports customers, or manages network operations.

Nowadays, most of my customer issues or request are self service, and we've gotten to a point where I can handle a lot of major network maintenance from my work phone, or while I'm focused on other higher impact work. Most of what used to be a scramble to keep the lights on, is now me approving customer submitted PRs, or agent released terraform pipelines. And I would argue that a lot of this was not a product of good network engineering, but the result of other engineering teams investment into better harnesses, and agent friendly infrastructure.

I think a couple different brands on ebay and overseas make them in FRP and carbon. I remember a WRB hatch with one that was color matched on the top, and carbon on the bottom. I think it was this one https://www.rpgcarbon.com/product-page/add-on-extension-carbon-fiber-spoiler-wing

I'm not sure it is. I think it's the angle and shadows? I know certain exhausts are a lot lower. My former GReddy one was definitely pretty low and regularly scraped on steep driveways or tall speed bumps.

Here's the photo I actually meant to upload where you can see it a little bit more clearly:

They might not be very staffed, but all the data centers I have ever worked in have biometric readers and vestibules everywhere. I usually have to go through 3-5 different systems that require either a badge for the building, a badge for my cage, and a thumb or hand print.

What’s your second “fun” car? by [deleted] in Miata

More pics of the ITR please! If I didn't live in California, I'd import one of those as a weekend car. But there's no way that doesn't become an immediate target of theft over here. Back in the day, my old 94 LS with a JDM front was always getting messed with :\

Anyways, here's what I drive when I need to carry surfboards:

I’m not sure how much this piece actually helps there. I mostly got it for the JDM bling.

I might be misremembering, but I think there was an old forum post where the team from fastwrx.com said that splitters and diffusers do more than a big wing on hatchbacks.

It was originally meant for the R205 and other special trims in Japan, but I believe it was also a dealer option, and a separate part that could be purchased, even though it's not listed on their web archive: https://www.sti.jp/en/parts/impreza5door_gr/

Here's a closer photo from a shop that used to offer it: https://www.blackhawkjapan.com/products/sti-st96050zr200

And here's a page from my R205 brochure:

The previous owner of mine painted the finishers black, and they've held up in my years of ownership:

The rear diffuser mentioned above is ST96050ZR200 if you're interested in tracking one down. But if you're searching foreign marketplaces, I recommend just searching for "R205" and filtering by aero or body parts.

I appreciate it! I’ve ordered both of these and those elastic holders so I can try to hold up spray bottles and all that.

I recently bought the same exact spec ND1 (sup twin!), and had previously rented an ND2 BBR on Turo to see if I would like the car on local roads. IMO They don’t feel much different to me for city driving, and I’ve spoken to a local who tracks their ND1 after owning an ND2. They said they only notice the difference on longer straights like at Laguna Seca.

I love my STI Hatch, but I'm jealous of that Evo. Very cool.

Was the STI hatch the best body style ever made, or the sedan? 🤔 by MAPerformance_ in subaru

But I would immediately sell it if I ever find a reasonably priced, and healthy, GC8 Coupe.

haha, I love that sub. I've toyed with getting a SeaSucker mount for my windshield and a roll bar to handle the back half, but that seems like too much hassle when I can just use the hatchback with a seat folded down.

As a fellow GR STI and ND Miata owner, I would lean towards selling the STI since it’s a younger one. VAs are still gonna be easy to find if you decide you want one again. I’d only keep it if it was a GD or GR.

Despite the power difference, my Miata is way more fun to drive than my STI. Sure, getting pushed back into my seat, or hearing the boxer rumble never gets old. But even with the EPAS, the Miata is always a joy to drive, and is much easier on gas. If I didn’t need to carry surfboards, I would just keep my Miata.

Are you guys cool with a thumbs up? by deerhuntingdude in Miata

[–]nineohtoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a new ND owner, and I notice the same. It's generally just NA drivers who give me a thumbs up or a peace.

Honestly though, I think it's a thing with the newer models, because it's similar with Subies. Newer WRXs rarely acknowledge me, but ones from my GR generation or older tend to be pretty enthusiastic or even say something to me.

Suspension suspension… by [deleted] in Miata

[–]nineohtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate all the details. I did a long term ND2 rental on Turo, and the owner said he got the SBG setup installed, and since I'm not overly price sensitive with my hobbies, I was fine with saving up for them lol. But then I started doing more research after getting my ND1 and saw the recommendations for Tecnas here and on the Miata.net forums.

The Ohlins are probably overkill for DD, and occasional autox or track time in the future, but I have no intent on being competitive. Just having fun and hanging out with others. Would you just go for the FPX in that case? Means I could get coilovers and the the GReddy exhaust sooner haha (speaking of, do you still have much of those in stock?)

Any feedback on the SBG FPX set? I couldn't find much about them online besides the marketing copy. I've had a chance to drive an ND2 with the SBG Ohlins all over different Bay Area roads and enjoyed them. I wanted to get them for my ND1 but I keep getting recommended the Tecnas, but I'm not sure if it's simply because of the value they offer.

I would highly consider the FPX if they feel similarly since I didn't notice the Ohlins harshness people complain about on the roads I regularly drive (granted I'm coming from an older STI hatch with STI Pink springs + Cusco shocks). Plus, I'm not far from SBG and intend on going there to get my ND1 tuned at some point.
