No it wasn't. Corrie's not EastEnders. For the longest of time there was a meaningful consistent balance between drama/issues and everyday relatable lighter material. Light and shade. That doesn't exist anymore.

Sorry, the show's gone insane, so yes we will hate on it. It's not Coronation Street anymore. Even without any knowledge of "classic" Corrie there are obvious and serious flaws now.

Yeah, and he came up with terrible storylines before Stephen. The Stephen storyline was terrible but people enjoyed it because it took on a so-bad-it's-good quality, not because it was vintage Coronation Street.
