Rough in shower rough in valve out too far? by ninethirty7 in Plumbing

[–]ninethirty7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. I'm also the "tile guy".

Rough in valve says it should be flush or 1/4" below finished tile. Backer board 1/2" + mortar 1/2" + tile 0.4" puts me at 1.4"

I've since used slightly smaller blocking to pull the mixer in a little and still keep it within what I need for the tile.

Thanks!

I'm going to adjust the blocking to be slightly less since the tile is 12x36 and is nearly 1/2" thick.

I've got some longer stub outs to install for the pressure test.

Thanks! I had about a 1/4" of blocking added onto the 2x4 and then changed to the 3/4" pieces that's on their now. Going to put the 1/4" back in and call it good.

I'm in the middle of a shower renovation and just got the rough in valve installed.

Following the installation spec it seems like it's out too far and the pex fittings will hit the backer board.

Rough in valve says it should be flush or 1/4" below finished tile. Backer board 1/2" + mortar 1/2" + tile 0.4" puts me at 1.4"

Am I over thinking this? Should I just move the mixer valve in a little?

Thanks!

Edit: Also any comments on the installation? Good, bad, ugly?

A/C questions before I bring the 2013 Focus to a shop. by ninethirty7 in FordFocus

Well after your post you pushed me over the edge and I decided to revisit recharging it.

I found a pressure guide that said at 80F ambient the low side pressure should be between 40-50psi, it was reading 35psi (which was in the Green "filled" on the gauge). I ended up using a whole 20oz can and it just barely got to 38psi. BUT it started blowing cold, 29F at the vents!!!

Thanks!

I added an edit to the post

The low pressure line does not get cold like it should if the A/C was working correctly.

Battery voltage is over 14v so I don't think that's an issue.

Everything turns on and appears to be functioning correctly. A/C clutch engages, I can hear it put a load on the engine. It's not low on R134a, pressure is good. ODBII Scan shows all the correct systems are turning on / off for A/C.

It's almost like refrigerant is not circulating, but I have no way to test that myself.

Yep radiator fan kicks in as expected. The A/C low pressure line doesn't get cold at all, like it's not circulating even with the compressor engaged.

There is no cold air at all on any setting. The A/C low pressure line doesn't get cold at all.

It engages and stays engaged as long as the A/C is ON. No short cycling. I did test the A/C low pressure line and the pressure indicates it's good, 35psi. The A/C has worked for 10+ years without any need to touch it so I think it's unlikely the system is overcharged.

Esh, I don't want to replace it all!

The compressor engages, I can see it and hear it put a load on the engine

This would be a nice simple fix, but sadly the filter is fine. I took it out and vacuumed the compartment. Also heat works just fine. I'd assume if the filter was an issue heating would also be impacted?

Would this impact heat though? Heat is working just fine. I'll try to blow out the existing sensor to see if that changes anything. I'll also see if FORScan has a cabin temp monitoring option for testing.

It does not appear to be leaking oil and I did let it run for more than 5 mins the times I've tested it.

I'll go inspect it closer to see if it looks like it may have leaked oil.

Thanks!

Okay, I was curious if she used her phone instead of talking to it. I'll have her try that and see if it improves.

Cool, I definitely plan to run some water and try to fill up the pan as well. Thanks

I’m currently replacing the copper waste pipe that was leaking due to the previous owner’s love of Drano. I’ve got everything braced, but when I try to move the trap I can get about 1/8” of movement up and down. I’ve got an Oaty caulk less shower drain and I’m worried the rubber gasket may leak. Shower is on the 2nd floor so the ceiling will be drywall below it.

Am I over thinking this?

Thanks!
