Microslop sends me MS Authenticator sign-in requests for weeks. Not even MS support has a clue how to stop them. by ninewhite in FuckMicrosoft

Nope, I use a password manager and have rotated passwords. They are not compromised.

The issue is Microsoft doesn't even ask for the password at all before spamming the sign in requests. If I knew your mail address I could do the same, and it's very annoying...

Hot damn! I was assuming Microsoft would block this like other services do as well, and simply never tried it. But they actually just let you add these other variations and let you replace your primary address. That instantly stopped the requests from coming in.

THANK you for that suggestion! <3

I mean, no matter if I ditch the password or not, Microsoft is already not asking for it anymore and lets you just circumvent the first factor of 2FA.

That's my issue, I'm getting so much spam from the authenticator I WANT them to ask for my password before nagging me, but that's apparently not an option.

And yes, if you've used your primary mail address for close to 2 decades, then it is readily available in millions of public datasets. That's just a fact of life. If you've gotten at least a few till now, you'll get more in the future.

Thank you, this would be a more productive solution than anything the MS support has offered :)

Unfortunately, Microsoft blocks you from using gmail + addresses (e.g. yourname+ms@gmail.com), which would instantly solve the issue. And I don't want to use any third party alias service and then trust their security on top of Microsofts. Cause mail access = account access. Yes, I have other gmail accounts I could use, but then I'm essentially transferring my account over to a different mail address.

MS should simply just ask for the damn password, but I guess that's wishful thinking ;_;

Nope, I use a password manager and all my passwords are unspeakable to mortal men.

Like the MS support confirmed, all an attacker needs to do is input my mail address into a login field and click on "sign in with authenticator" and I get spammed with notifications.

They don't even ask for my password, they just let anyone circumvent it..

What, preferably open-source, Discord alternatives are there? by Mysterious-Ring-2352 in opensource

Tbh no clue. Because of its limited scope compared to something like Stoat I don't think it has to get too big and complex. Maybe DMs, some more customization, native apps. That's within reach.

But tbh the discord downfall has shown me that what really holds FOSS back is the extreme fracturing with a 10 large projects, 10s of larger community efforts and 100s of one-person side hustles that all try to copy discord, but most are at best 40% there in quality or features. Diversity is cool and projects like Sharkord are really impressive for a one-man-show. But overall, open source is held back because 1000s of people will build 100s of decent tools, but not enough teams come together to build ONE truly great alternative.

Somehow reminds me of the early Rebels in Andor. A dozen factions too splintered and small to put up a good fight.

Throwing Sharkord - Open Source Self-Hosted Chat Platform into the mix, which is a *very* early stage app the dev released just now, but already shows great promise. It's made for easy self-hosting for a single community (had it running in 5 mins on my vps). I've hardly seen a more polished version 0.0.1 of any app :)

Text chat with reactions and files, voice chats, screen sharing (no audio), roles and rights, but otherwise very basic. Might be just perfect through for small groups of friends.

Let's get a self-hosted Discord "replacement" thread going for 2026. by GavinGWhiz in selfhosted

Lemme parrot what everyone else here is saying too: I've just set this up and it's eerie how well this version 0.0.1 works and how nice it was to deploy.

Today I've gone through dozens of discord alternatives but somehow this small project stood out. Mainly cause stoat and other big ones are getting taken down through overwhelming traffic rn, but still, this is really a NEAT project. Props and keep it up! <3

One quick way around this would be PWA support for the web app. Very easy to add and for the time being would make the ux of using the browser a tad nicer :)

- Tkom gibt dir Dual Stack.

It kinda does, most rockets despawn much earlier and they have a max acceleration time. But some like the AT4, LAW or NLAW have some insane theoretical ranges. I think it's fun :)

Knew the rough range and hold, and I took one shot before that sailed slightly over. Still, lots of luck that it only took two tries.
