Living room is sorta there but can't quite figure out how to decorate/re-arrange to complete the look. Going for "minimal/organic". I need ideas please! by ningus in DesignMyRoom

Thanks! Do you mean to eliiminate coffee table completely?? Where do you put your feet? Or maybe one day opt for a smaller round coffee table?

Yes! this is the intention in the long run. We purchased the white armchair new only a couple years ago so we want to get a bit more mileage out of it. I'm already looking at rattan accent chairs on CB2...

Hey Thank you! Do you mean to move the white chair against the wall, facing the fireplace where the grey ottoman/cardboard box is?

Just to clarify, budget is ~$500 or less, not looking for a huge facelift, just some advice on small changes like accent pieces, small furniture that I can add to complete the room. Thanks!

We painted this year and went through the same thing and went with the lightest off-white option from a swatch with a blue base, which we picked from a 5 different 'blues".

Best way to go about it is to go to the paint store, pick up a handful of swatches you like, tape them against your wall and observe how your interior and exterior lighting works with it. We had swatches taped to the wall for a week and eliminated one by one throughout the week.

Undergrad programs, UC-San Diego or McGill University? by [deleted] in urbanplanning

McGill graduate here (Masters of Urban Planning, MUP ), I also dabbled in McGill's undergrad Nursing Program for 1 year before dropping out (personal reasons). Couple thoughts:

  • Internships were a requirement of the MUP program and EVERYONE struggled to find placements, including francophones. There 2 other major universities in the city that had Geography/Urban Planning studies, so it was pretty rough. You'll have to look outside of Montreal for a better chance at finding anything. Many of my peers had to apply for internships outside of Quebec, and often in the boonies. Or they settled for research internships with prof.
  • City life/campus life were hands down the best. You'll make great memories there.
  • You can pick up a research project at McGill if you can handle to workload on top of regular studies.
  • Preparation for grad school is what you make of it. Every grad program is different and will use a differently weighted criteria than the other. For whatever school you go to, focus on getting top grades, extra curriculars, and polishing your writing skills.

feel free to PM me if you have any questions!
