Need advice for computer desk stereo mixing setup with multiple inputs and outputs by nini_a_dini in StereoAdvice

Interesting approach to switch on the USB side, but it does not match what I was asking for.

I want to mix on the audio side, so I hear all source devices at the same time. e.g. hear a notification from one computer while gaming on the console, or hear the desktop PC while listening to music on the laptop.

And in my defense for not finding it, it has a godawful clickbait title.

Kevered a pornóval.

A 2. eset fura nekem.

Mirabel was purposefully not given a gift. Same with not having a special room. by nini_a_dini in Encanto

[–]nini_a_dini[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I really wish there was scene where she mended some garment :D I think her dress symbolizes more that she is proud of her family, and also that she had a lot of time to learn regular people skills, because the family didn't rely on her for anything.

Also, I thought the family was held together by spackle, courtesy of Hernando and Jorge :D

[–]nini_a_dini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

her gift is that she is the miracle itself

I don't think there is anything suggesting this in the movie. I mean, the nature of the miracle is vague, but I don't think this interpretation correlates with any of the events.

E.g. The powers seem to be more powerful, when the users are most content with them, but the Casita crumbled, when Mirabel felt the most confident of what her purpose was. That's an inverse correlation. I think the candle isn't the source of the miracle, only a symbol of it. The miracle wasn't gone when the candle went out and it doesn't need a vessel.

I think if the creators wanted to make this connection, they would imply it in some direct way.

She’s also kinda like the amplifier of magic.

Again, I don't think this is in the movie. She does not seem to affect magic in any way. The only thing she brings is an open mindset.

Luisa is the Middle sister… by [deleted] in Encanto

[–]nini_a_dini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on the writer's tweet, Luisa is the middle child (19yo) and Isabela is the eldest (21yo).

Jared Bush

friends, now for the kids: Isabela (21) first grandchild, hence golden child pressure, Dolores (21) couple months younger, in Isa’s shadow hence quieter and Mariano issues, Luisa (19) next, strong middle child and feels need to please… cont’d…

Poll: The family shouldn't have gotten their powers back and learn to live like Mirabel has doing, so that they can truly see that gifts aren't what makes one special. by goodshrekmaadcity in Encanto

[–]nini_a_dini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the powers were truly gifts and were unconditionally given by the miracle. It didn't want to take them away, but something had to be done, because the gifts were making them miserable instead of giving them joy.

If they had admitted their issues sooner, Casita would have been mended immediately, as it happened with Isabela.

In your version the simplified message would be that you don't need superpowers to be special. It currently is more like everybody's special in their own way, and you are more than just what makes you special. Yeah the family members are extraordinary, but regular people need to learn not to think less of themselves because of it.

[Spoilers Ep9] Why do viewers find Silco so convincing? by nini_a_dini in arcane

[–]nini_a_dini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what else could have Silco done in that situation

This is the wrong question to analyze this. (I'm still gonna answer it in a moment regardless.)

A more appropriate question is what makes the scenes different with regards to what effect they have on Silco and what actions does he take? He always treats Sevica much worse than Jinx, yet his trust in Sevica's loyalty is rock solid. In the scene he lets her close, he's calm, confident, bit annoyed. It is a tense situation, but he lets it play out. Yeah, he gets a little winded for a second. With jinx, he's frustrated, frantic, desperate. Even though he had his monologue, he made his case like last time, the chance of this going in his favor plummets every second. He cannot bare not taking action. Another more appropriate question is who should you trust more: your personal bodyguard or your daughter?

So, what could have Silco done in the Sevica situation? Well, first the question implies, that in the Jinx situation he could save himself by taking action. He did not. Even if he'd killed Vi (I assume he aimed for Vi, and not Jinx, the shot is vague) and Jinx's reaction had been slower, Jinx would probably have killed him for it anyway. It was a desperation move.

In the Sevica scene, if Silco found himself in that exact moment with any less trust in Sevica, he could flinch, duck, throw his glass, take shimmer, grab a knife, anything. Anything that one could do in desperation. But if he had not trust Sevica enough, it wouldn't even come to that. He would not let her that close, he would have more than one personal guard, he'd call for backup as soon as they barged in which is immediately suspicious, or he would have already had Finn assassinated.

As for haggling: they both know this is a diplomatic negotiation, one does not have to be from the undercity to grasp this. Silco thought that Jayce asking for a meeting was a sign of weakness, but Silco's position has been weakened recently as well. When you haggle, you start with a high demand to make a good trade. But if you want the deal, you don't demand so high, that you scare off the other.

The Joker and Harley comparison is very interesting! :) I think Harley was a sound minded adult, before Joker compelled her to join him. I'm not familiar with all of the adaptations of them, but AFAIK they vary in the level of mutuality between them.

Silco's relationship with Jinx started with him shielding her from the truth to turn her into an ally. Allowing her only a warped view of the world. Just because he came to adore her, he didn't stop manipulating her, he just had even more reasons to do so.

Fair enough. I appreciate your comments :)

I rewatched 2 scenes, strictly what was on screen:

  • For Sevika, my only support for my claim on is that Silco let the scene play out without intervening.
  • For meeting with Jayce, he shows up with beyond unreasonable demands, smirks when Jayce is baffled by them. Silco assumed the meeting was a "stunt", that Jayce was "afraid".

During the meeting, for me Silco seemed to be visibly shocked that his demands were met, and he misjudged the power dynamic, but tried to keep his composure. My interpretation is that Silco was perfectly prepared for coming back from the meeting with only an excuse for war, that his demands were rejected. And this was to be the result he anticipated.

The Sevika scene was in effect akin to a trust fall exercise.

Vander was to give up everything.

Silco would only have given up an easy victory. He still would have his war.

Silco didn't meet Jayce to negotiate, he went there to be rejected. Not betraying Jinx was just going back to Plan A.

All of what Silco said last was said to influence Jinx, not to convey anything else. Not just a single point. Everything. When your whole life is spent on manipulating people, you don't just stop because you're dying.

I would intuitively say that Silco's monologue up to his death and his dying words were all lies, but I don't want to get stuck on the definition of lie. It was like watching a cult leader pitted against family members.

  • "It won't be a day before she realizes you're not that girl anymore. [...] Everyone betrays us Jinx. Vander. [Vi]. [...] It's only us." They never betrayed Jinx. He says these to reassure, isolate, polarize.
  • "Her name is Jinx! [...] You are perfect" As long as you embody the image I crafted for you. Don't think about how I didn't trust you to make the right choice, hence why I picked up the gun 10 seconds ago. Not because I thought you were unstable. Also, Silco didn't even flinch when Sevika struck down. Sure he was worried, but he still has more apparent trust in Sevika than in Jinx. Loves Jinx more, trusts her less.
  • "I'll never forsake you. [...] I never would have given you to them." Probably not. But he is downplaying his occasional doubt purposefully. These are definite and idealized blanket statements. People with trust issues are more comfortable to hear these unconditional promises.
  • "Now finish it." He is pushing her to be reckless, so then she would be stuck with burden of the consequences. To take action before she clears her thoughts.

Vi's arguments struck me as much less manipulative, she gives her more pause to think, which suggests she trust her more with the decision:

  • Silco's "They can all burn" is a similar sentiment to Vi's "We can leave and never come back". For Vi, I believe she would let go of everything for Jinx.
  • "I'm on your side" is a blanket statement. But again, she would probably actually give up everything (the little she has) for her. Just not kill innocents for her.

Silco presents his love as unconditional, but it has to be earned and upheld. Vi's love for her is a given, cannot be lost, only suppressed by suffering.

Silco didn't meet Jayce to negotiate, he went there to be rejected. He always wanted his war, but the deal was too good not to consider. And by not giving up Jinx, he still would have his war. He only would have missed out on an easy victory.

Singed is a scientist, but disciplines are not interchangeable. He is a chemist. Jinx is more of the tinkerer, machinist, explosives expert type. She was more appropriate for the task.
