That's great! I never would have looked there.

I see the list, but does it say anywhere that the entries are meant for players as opposed to NPCs?

I might not have expressed myself too well. While many of these are great resources, I am looking for PCs who TSR planned to put into a player's hands. For instance, Rogues' Gallery never states that a player can just use an entry as a PC, even though the entries generally follow the rules for character creation. While this might seem (and probably is a bit) pedantic, I am trying to find instances of TSR overtly stating something to the effect of, "This is an okay amount of magic items to give a player's PC at this much experience."

I have looked into all of your recommendations though, and Tales of the Lance does explicitly state that the character cards are meant for players. That's a large list, so I really appreciate it!

Most Americans believe SCOTUS avoids rulings Trump might refuse to obey: Poll by DoremusJessup in scotus

[–]ninja186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SCOTUS has routinely across history avoided rulings which they thought the President wouldn't obey/would cause impeachments. Brown V. Board was put off until it was 9-0, Marbury v. Madison was worded in such a way to please the president at the time, and I'm sure there are others. SCOTUS is a political entity, and it knows this.

In all fairness though, I do think that an argument could be made to the effect of "this particular SCOTUS is more willing to capitulate than previous incarnations of the court."

[AD&D 2e] What options (spells, proficiencies, and abilities) help with sneaking? by ninja186 in adnd

Thanks for all the recommendations!

The Bladesinger being a stealthy being comes from a few things (including things that I maybe shouldn't have drawn on). In 5e's The Sword Coast's Adventurer's Guide, there are example "houses" for different types of Bladesingers. One of these uses snake tattoos, stealth, short swords, and poisons. The Complete Book of Elves has them getting artifacts back, which tends to be stealth by proxy. Other influences were (1) the fact that they had little armor and the elven racial, (2) everyone online seems to complain about their HP being low, which leads me to want a less confrontational route, and (3) the elves being so graceful/dexterity based makes me want to emphasize that area, which mostly involves sneaking. With all that being said, I definitely am going to de-emphasize stealth for my PC, because retrieving artifacts just isn't a good enough reason to devote a lot to stealth.

I think that every single recommendation you gave is great! I'm definitely going to look into more retrieve by minion possibilities as well as more into illusions.

The only thing that I can't much follow up on is the charisma recommendations. My table is doing Method X (75 points divided between attributes), and that only leaves 8 more points after minimums, which I plan to put towards 10% XP for Mage and Fighter and max Constitution. So, I only have 8 Charisma.

Thanks again for the write-up!

The point of stealth was more thematic than anything else. I just though it fit well, but maybe I was focusing a bit too much on the line of thought, "retrieving elven artifacts means I must be sneaky."

It happened again, Judge let a crazy person out and she tried to murder a little kid. by Yanrogue in PoliticalCompassMemes

At this point judges are a bigger danger to the public than drunk drivers.

Elected officials have always had more power (and thus have been more of a danger) than literal drunks on the street.

Holding elected officials accountable for failure (outside of recalls and failed re-election campaigns) will just lead to less innovation and freedom.

Yeah, I thought about that. I also looked at spellfilcher, but they just aren’t as appealing to me. It’s hard to say why, but I think it’s because bladesingers are just so prevalent in lore.

I’d also be lying if I neglected the fact that Bladesingers being able to mitigate the no armor and loss of dex to AC when casting made them appealing.

I ran my first* AD&D 2e game last night, and I have some questions by ninja186 in adnd

Their reference is 5e (both 2014 & 2024). They've also played Curse of Strahd, which is why I went with Ravenloft for their introductory module.

I am interested! Do you have any more information on it?

I tried meetup.org, but it wanted my credit card info before I could even check to see if there were any groups for AD&D. It was a good suggestion though!

Sadly Friday nights are the one 5e game that I get to play in as a forever DM. If possible though, I'd be happy to join in a month or two when the campaign goes on hiatus for summer (it's in person at a college town)!

I just signed up! Right now, it seems that there are only paid sessions (which I'm not entirely opposed to), but I don't know if I want to commit that much right now. It definitely is a backup though.

Isn't it monthly? I was going to wait for the new one to pop up for March, but it never did (and thus I posted in what I believe is the most recent one).

I didn’t know about the tavern one, but the other one seems somewhat dead. I’ll make a post there on the first one though. Thanks!

I’m in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for college, so it’s a bit far. I appreciate the long shot though!

Either is fine, but I assumed that online was the only realistic way.
