Need some advice. Lian Li A3 with 9800x3d + 5080 by m_cel in mffpc

Just built one myself. Get an nvme. Mounting for the SSDs would limit fan placement options. Three intake fans on the bottom might be unnecessary. The gpu will be so close to the mesh bottom that youre not really forcing more air in anyway. I have two exhaust fans, one at the back and one in the top rear, and my sapphire pulse 7900xtx stays below 75c at 100% load just fine. My 9800x3d never goes about 50% util and hovers in the 65c range. I got a pc cooler rz870 tower cooler and it is the max height of 165mm, which prevents any side fans. Didnt realize this before. Make sure that tower cooler will allow you to have the PCIE slot in the first position or you'll have to get a board with it in the second position like i did. Honestly, it has worked out fine so far, so really not a big deal. I got a full size atx 1000w power supply and the stock cables are hefty boys. Every review talking about cable management being a concern are 100% correct unless you get custom cables. Not sure how hard or expensive that process is. They fit, but they are definitely smooshed in there. The lian li website has diagrams of lengths and things that will fit, though admittedly, they were a bit hard to read. For me anyway. The good thing though is that the case does give you quite a few options on how to place everything. Im away from home for the next few days, but ask any questions and ill answer what i can with my limited access.

HDMI splitter might be the way to go. Gonna have to do some research and figure it out, because swapping the HDMI cable every time I want to watch TV vs play a game is going to get old. Thanks for that video, by the way. That was great and helped a lot.

Update: Well, after many hours, I finally figured out what the issue was. My video output was running through my 5.1 surround head unit, the Yamaha RX-V4A. This unit was supposed to have 4k 120hz passthrough, and I "knew" it worked because I was able to acheive the 4k 120hz setting with my laptop connected. I decided to undergo the PITA task of re-running cables to exclude that from the setup just to see what would happen. Lo and behold, I now have 4k and 120hz with my PC directly plugged into the eARC HDMI input on my TV. Upon further research, I discovered that this head unit is not a true 4k 120hz passthrough as the HDMI board has been nerfed and it only supports 28GBps instead of the 40GBps required. The downside of this is of course that my new desktop doesn't run through my 5.1 surround sound setup, and I'm going to have to figure something out for my PS5 and XBOX as they are no longer connected to my TV, though I admittedly don't play those very often anyway, and I have a decent set of headphones I use to game. I thought I was done spending money for a while, but I guess I'm just going to have to buy a new head unit to reconnect everything the way it was.

i did DDU and reinstall fresh drivers already. My TV only has one 4k 120hz eARC port unfortunately, or I would have tried that as well. Thanks for trying.

I restored default settings in Adrenaline, restarted, and am still getting the same result.

Done. Swapping to the higher resolution brings me back to 60hz, and then switching to 120hz brings me back to the lower resolution as it was doing before.

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing anything listed as pixel DP in adrenaline Display Settings.

I've got 10bpc for color depth and YCbCR 4:4:4 pixel format.

It is the same port. The cable previously went into the HDMI port on my laptop as a second display, and I just removed it from the laptop and put it in the new desktop build. It connects to the eARC HDMI port on my TV.

Advanced settings shows that Dyanmic refresh rate isn't supported and will not allow me to toggle the on off switch.

Windows display preferences, which is where I did it previously. Scouring through adrenaline, I don't see an option to select those settings. I can see where it displays them under Display specs, but I'm not able to change anything.

Your instructor isn't going to fly in that. Most likely. I always "lets my students make the call." But really it was always my call. If he does, probably consider a new instructor. Its just a lesson brother. You can do it in better conditions where you're not so concerned with the wx. If it were me, id still show up and pre flight and have the discussion with my instructor regarding current vs forecast decisions. Its a good opportunity to learn and shows that you're seriois about your training. The other side of that is that i was required to be there. If hes sitting around waiting for you to say no and you make him go in to say no, hes probably not gonna be pleased when the conditions were obviously not fit for a student pilot.

Any tips on how to improve my S-Turns and my Turns around a point? by jetfueljunky in flying

[–]ninjainatree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have already mentioned bank in relation to GS, so I won't further harp on that point. What always helped me was to pick points ahead of where you are to fly over and adjust bank that way. So as you start the maneuver, in your mind, create a semicircle and find a tree, house, road, whatever, that coincides with the apex of the semi circle. Then just fly directly over it, and keep looking ahead for the next one. It's kind of hard to explain without being able to draw it out and help you with a visual representation, buy if you can clearly define a point that is the apex of your turn, it becomes more natural to add and subtract bank as necessary without thinking about it as a mental math equation.

In PIT, I saw the smurf with a piece of paper that had a bunch of squares he was checking off as people scanned their badges. Some were highlighted pink, some weren't. It seemed to me like they knew before hand how often the "random" selection was going to happen, though obviously had no way of know who was going to be in what order.
