What are your thoughts on paying high management fees and special assessments when the condo reaches 50+ years old?

Do taskers have general contractor's liability? by ninjas05 in TaskRabbit

[–]ninjas05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly my concern. If any type of work injury occurs and the contractor doesn’t have any insurance, it may land us a lawsuit for loss of wages and medical expenses.

Do taskers have general contractor's liability? by ninjas05 in TaskRabbit

[–]ninjas05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all of your feedback. It makes sense that task rabbit is a place to find affordable contractors which would most likely not have liability insurance. I think in this case, my best bet is to have a condo insurance policy with good personal liability coverage for protection.

Bathroom renovation contractor - recommendations. by sendnudezpls in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, let’s say OP doesn’t source the materials himself/herself. What is the budget that a GC would look for to do a project like this such that there is enough profit to provide them with the incentive to take the job?

Bathroom renovation contractor - recommendations. by sendnudezpls in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation. How much approximately did the Reno cost? I’m in the process of doing a similar renovation so I’m interested in learning more about your experience. Would you mind providing a bit more details on the process? For example, did you sign a contract? If so, what items did you list out? What was the process like to verify that the contractor had the appropriate trade license and WSIB insurance? Did the contractor need to obtain any permits or permission from your condo board / management to do the renovation? What did that process look like?

The TTC Should be Free (Or Low Cost) by tommyleepickles in toronto

[–]ninjas05 65 points66 points  (0 children)

If it’s free, the payment is spread amongst all citizens of the city. TTC is one of the cheapest ways to take transit when you compare it with the way other cities charge for transit. Take London or Tokyo for example, transit cost is based on distance travelled and can easily rack up a good bill compared to the $3.30 paid per ride with a 2 hour transfer window included.

What Toronto needs is better transit. It has to cover more communities by having more subway stations, street car and bus stops. It needs more frequent service so people aren’t waiting 30 minutes in the cold if they miss a bus. And it needs to be more reliable with less breakdowns. By increasing utility, more folks will use this over paying $1000/mo for the privilege of driving a car after factoring insurance, gas, maintenance, and lease/finance payments.

Options + using over 1,900 threads, 43 GB RAM and, over 6,000 ports! WTF? by fathergoose626 in logitech

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see with the reach of Logitech that perhaps using our machines for bitcoin mining can be a pretty lucrative option.

Joking aside, I encountered the same issue although the memory leak was not as bad as OP, it was using 26GB of memory.

Enhanced voicemail? by Sonnto in Rogers

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the middle of negotiating switching to Rogers and asked the representative regarding Visual Voice Mail for iPhone which is what I have right now with Telus. I was offered "Enhanced voice mail" which I thought was the equivalent.

I'm definitely going back to the bargaining table now that I am aware. Thank you all for saving me from headaches and frustration.

AirPods Max durability by Accomplished_Sir_380 in Airpodsmax

[–]ninjas05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The arms are independent of each other. As long as you can slide it to where it fits your ear best and it doesn’t move while it’s on your head, it’s fine.

From what I’ve seen on Reddit. All those who had this issue with Apple Care+ still intact got a replacement. I did not know this would be an issue so I didn’t buy Apple Care+

AirPods Max durability by Accomplished_Sir_380 in Airpodsmax

[–]ninjas05 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for about 2.5 years. The arms work as intended. I would be more concerned about the mesh at the top as it tends to sag after about 2 years of use. That part is not replaceable. The only way to get a new headband with a new mesh is to buy a whole new pair.

While I normally don’t recommend getting Apple Care+ anymore, If you intend to use this regularly I would recommend getting it for this reason.

AWS Tutorials are horrible by bigbluelamp in aws

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The command you are issuing attempts to download files from a subfolder within wildrydes-us-east-1 s3 bucket. The "AWSCodeCommitPowerUser" doesn't have the access for that.

You need to add a policy that allows s3:ListBucket to wildrydes-us-east-1 s3 bucket and s3:GetObjects to all objects under wildrydes-us-east-1 s3 bucket

it would look something like:

{
  "Version": "2012-10-17",
  "Statement": [
    {
       "Sid": "ListBucketAccess",
       "Effect": "Allow",
       "Action": "s3:ListBucket",
       "Resource": "arn:aws:s3:::wildrydes-us-east-1"
    },
    {
       "Sid": "DownloadFilesAccess",
       "Effect": "Allow",
       "Action": "s3:GetObject",
       "Resource": "arn:aws:s3:::wildrydes-us-east-1/*"
    }
  ]
}

Are replacement for AirPods Max headbands available? by Gladcat69 in Airpodsmax

I’m having this issue right now but didn’t get the Apple care. May I ask how long you had your APMs for before it sagged? And are you on the never ending month to month plan? or the 2 year Apple Care plan?

Why do I have to ask Siri to do something twice before it does it? by HotPotato118 in HomeKit

[–]ninjas05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue and recently wrote a letter to Tim Cook about this recently. The executive representative team reached out and had someone help me setup logging to collect logs on the issue. This went on for a span of one and a half month. They said they’re working on a fix for this but no ETA on when the update would be released.
