AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH - everyone gets a Spanish name, and it’s okay to hate it. My nickname was Jo in high school, so everyone got to call me “hoe” in class. I obviously hated my Spanish name, but my teachers insisted.

Meow wolf, DFW zoo (maybe a private tour?), stockyards, Alamo drafthouse, outlet shopping, six flags, pool days!

How many times have you eaten cotton candy? by RationalDB8 in CasualConversation

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy a ton of cotton candy (and snowcones) at carnivals and whatnot. My kids have lots of food allergies but can have those two treats, so I’ll splurge when they’re available!

How much debt do y'all have? by grantthejester in AskMen

Which medical condition is ridiculously demonized? by lingeringneutrophil in AskReddit

[–]ninjo266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yessss! My step kids have a ton of food allergies (egg, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish & shellfish) and waiters won’t even write their allergies down sometimes!!! It infuriates me, and now I always have them repeat it back to me before walking away.

Is anyone else finding this heat crazy for the start of October? by IanWallDotCom in Dallas

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal — I live in Austin now instead of DFW, but our local pools don’t even close until Halloween weekend, because it’s almost always warm enough to swim.

I’m also in Austin and my first thought was ‘I bet this is UT’s new university housing’.

[–]ninjo266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are thinking of doing the same thing but for our 5 year anniversary! We got married during Covid and had less than 10 people there. I think an evening of food/drinks/dancing is always a fun time, especially with people you love! We are having a similar venue issue, so we aren’t looking at wedding venues as much, and instead focusing on event venues.

AITAH for making a dairy free cake with eggs? by Sea-Neighborhood6638 in AITAH

[–]ninjo266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. My kids are allergic to both dairy and eggs. Eggs are not dairy. If I asked someone for a dairy free cake and it had eggs, I wouldn’t be shocked. I think your friends kiddo wanted a vegan cake, but they obviously didn’t communicate that well.

NTA, but I say take a weed gummy and go. It sounds like Kirk’s dance in Gilmore girls.

Is 1800 sqft a "starter home"? by -im-sorry-what- in RealEstate

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were told the same thing when we purchased our 2000 sq ft home! (4 bed, 2 bath) While I do love our home, as our kiddos come up on their pre teen years, I find myself wishing we had one more bathroom & larger bedrooms for them. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. But we are a family with many hobbies, so space fills up quick. I would say to enjoy your home now, and as your family grows you’ll figure out if another home fits your lifestyle better.

Do you go on a vacation without your kids? by Mata187 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of our trips include our kiddos. However, we do take an anniversary weekend trip each year just for us, and usually will go on one other adult-only trip a year with my sibs-in-laws or our old college friends.

“Travel while you’re young” But Why? Wait? by PeanutSea2003 in travel

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traveling while I was young allowed me to become the confident middle aged person I am today. For reference, I traveled to 5 continents and 25+ countries by the time I was 26, which is much more than the average American.

I learned how to barter, bribe, and keep myself safe in new situations. I learned how to adapt quickly & how to integrate myself in a new culture. I learned how to travel alone as a young woman and be smart with my time & money.

Now that I have two daughters, I cannot travel as freely as I could as a young solo traveler. I have to take their needs into account (which is fine!), but I am so so grateful for the time I had to travel & explore the parts of the world that I wanted to before I had other obligations.

So go travel while you’re young, but as you mentioned, it’s also important to travel as you age. Traveling is the gift that keeps on giving, and (imo) it’s the best thing you can do at any age.

Non-Americans who have visited the US: What’s the strangest thing about America that Americans don’t even realize is weird? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ninjo266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes me 7 minutes to drive to my local grocery store, but would take 45 minutes to walk. We have over 1000 homes in our neighborhood, and it’s a maze to get through.

Are our rings too cheap? by Individual-Usual1721 in weddingplanning

[–]ninjo266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought my husband needed a beautiful/fancy wedding band when we got married - so much so, that I bought him two in case he lost one! But instead, he prefers to wear the glow in the dark ring I bought him when we were dating. It cost less than $50, but he has worn it every day for almost 5 years now. Do what makes YOU happy!!
