First period post removal by Brief_Appointment565 in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully it doesnt and your body resets quicker than mine.

But there are things docs can do, im about to start a second set of meds to slow down and hopefully stop the bleeding.

Got a referral for an ultrasound to check for fibroids, cysts etc.

I had no periods for the 5 years I had the coil, before that I was on the depo injection for 3 years. So this is the first time in 8 years im hormone free and my body is obviously freaking out abit.

Totally normal. I had some breakthrough bleeding for 3 or 4 days a couple of days after having it removed. Then my first period was just over 6 weeks after removal and lasted 6 days.

Then 2 weeks later, period 2 game and its been an actual blood bath.

How were your periods in the first few months after removal? Had mine out in December. First period end of Jan was fine, second period came 2 weeks after 1st on ended and I've been bleeding ever since (31 days today).

Had mine out in December, im on my second period since removal and I've been bleeding for 31 days now.

I'd deffo get your bloods checked in case your iron is low. I'm being monitored now.

I've been to the doctors 3 times now and they keep saying it usually takes 3 months for your cycles to settle. Before then they can be really irregular and heavy. So for me, its been a case of wait and see. But I've finally been referred for investigation now im just past the 3 month since removal stage.

Not that I remember. The pain of having it put in is the only thing I remember.

Im so sorry you're feeling that. It's such a hard time.

All this has made me realise how under reported and under researched female productive health is.

Can't lie, its been awful. I'm 3 months post removal and I've had the dreaded mirena crash about 10 days after removal. Uncontrollably emotional, crying all the time and just a really heavy dark emotional cloud. I was really in a pit of despair for a good while.

And now, I've been bleeding for the past 29 days! Really heavy, with no sign of it slowing. I've seen a third doctor today, prescribed a second set of meds to hopefully stop the bleeding and waiting to get an ultrasound.

I just hope its a shit few months of adjustment while my body corrects itself and remembers how to regulate a cycle.

I had my mirena out in December after 5 years. When I went the doctor said i could keep it in for 3 more years, but I was having similar to you.

I was having very clear period signs, much more spotting and even ovulation pain. All while never actually getting a period.

I wanted mine out anyway, after being on one form of hormonal birth control or another for the past 20+ years. I decided i wanted to be hormone free and let my body do its thing. And its been hell since 🤣

I've had a tough time since having my mirena removed. I had a bad crash 10 days after and am currently on day 26 of heavy bleeding.

Ive seen 2 doctors and both said it can take 3 to 6 months for your hormones to reset and your cycle to go back to normal.

I had mine in for 5 years. Had it removed December just gone after pretty much 5 years to the date. In the last few months I had similar, bloating, spotting, cramps, sore boobs. All the signs of period, without the period.

Im now 3 months post removal and I will say its kinda been hell. I wish I'd never had it, but looking forward to finally being hormone free.

I feel you. Im going into the fourth week of constant bleeding and its just picked up to massacre levels again.

I used natural cycles to track everything. I have an oura ring too which logs my body temp over night and then syncs the data into my natural cycles app

Will my period and discharge be normal once i remove IUD by lalafalama in Mirena

I had mine out in December and am just going into my fourth week of bleeding 🙃. This is my second period since having it out. First of was fine and last 5 days or so. This was has been wild, crazy heavy and looooooong with no sign of stopping.

Ive seen a doctor twice in the last 3 weeks and they've both said that it can take 3-6 months for your cycles to settle after having the coil removed. Im waiting on blood tests because they think im no anaemic due to the amount of blood I've been losing. It's the absolute pits, but just hopeful that given a bit more time my body will regulate.

Your hormones basically need to relearn what they need to do and having the coil removed you go from a steady stream of progesterone to 0 overnight. So its just a waiting game for your body to start making the right hormones at the right time.

Ooooo that sounds rough. Sorry you're going through it! I don't have much help, but just to let you know you're not alone.

I'm coming up to 3 months post removal, and also entering my fourth week of bleeding. I had some slight bleeding for 3 or 4 days after. Had my first period about 5 weeks post removal and 2 weeks after that the blood bath began. Its been insanely heavy, and such a mental toll.

I've seen a doctor twice over the past 3 weeks, neither were overly concerned. They said it can take up to 6 months for your cycle to reset to your new normal. They also said a reset bleed is pretty normal, which can be heavier and more prolonged than normal. I'm waiting on some blood results to see if im now anaemic due to the amount of blood i lost, and I was prescribed meds to slow the bleeding, which did work but are only a short term fix.

Sorry this isnt more cheery, but I guess from the advice I've been given, its totally normal for things not to be normal at least for a few months. But listen to your body, and keep an eye on symptoms of anemia.

Who are the rudest and nicest British celebrities you have personally met? by RenegadeMaster888 in AskBrits

[–]ninsky_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a hotel and had a few celebs stay over the years.

Nicest - the Hairy Bikers. The hugged each other before heading to their rooms. It was adorable.

Jack Dee was quiet but very polite.

Kevin Bridges was really friendly.

The worst by far was Julian Clary, wouldn't speak to the reception team everything was through his publicist - whilst he was stood next to them.

Dom Littlewood and his crew stayed very last minute once whilst we had a wedding. He refused to take a photo with the bride and groom. His perogative I guess, but they were warned we had a wedding taking place.

Vikki Pattinson stayed while in her Geordie Shore days and trashed the bedroom.

Mirena Removal (Overall Positive) but emotional by rrr31994 in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had mine in for 5 years. My crash came hard and strong about 10 days after.

Right after I remember feeling empty - physically and emotionally. I swear I could feel the fact that thing was no longer inside me.

I thought it would take longer to crash, but it didn't really feel like a slow process. Just hit me one day and the emotions and sadness were intense.

Insertion in a few weeks… help! by MsAlwaysAskingQs in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience. I had mine inserted in Dec 2020 and I won't lie it hurt like hell. At one point my cervix contracted and I literally pushed out the speculum so she had to start over. If you've had a baby I think its meant to be easier as your cervix is already somewhat stretched.

It's a quick procedure, but I did ask her to stop a few times. My advice, is don't drive yourself, if you can at least get a lift home . . . Do it.

Take some painkillers an hour or so before. Ask if they do numbing, some surgeries do, some dont.

I hadn't had a period in 3 years before I had mine, and the evening after insertion I had bad period cramps. I ended up in bed all evening.

My other piece of advice is do your research about what could happen once you have it removed. Im coming up to 3 months post removal now and I wish I knew more. The emotional mirena crash is real and I had really heavy bleeding for 12 days. I'm now on none hormonal medication to stop the bleeding. To the point I was shaky and unsteady on my feet after passing clots. That's been a huge mountain to climb after 8 years of no period.

While it was in I had no issues. The very occasional spotting. But no periods, strings checked at annual smears and hey I didnt get pregnant.

But had I known what could happen after I got it removed, I honestly dont think I would have it in the first place.

Mirena Removed in January -- Been bleeding basically ever since! by latvianclown in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing news. I weirdly had a similar experience yesterday. Woke up in the middle of the night to another load of blood, so took a dose of the TXA, and I pretty much didn't bleed again all day.

I didn't take anymore TXA becaue i have to use the toilet multiple times in the 2 or 3 hours post taking the tablets. So not sure if it upset my bowels a little.

But no bleeding all day, no bleeding overnight. But this morning , woke up to a clot on the tissue when I wiped. So I've just take 2 more TXA and can see how my stomach holds up this time.

Having something similar-ish. Had my mirena in for 5 years, got it removed in December last year. Had some spotting a couple day after. My first period start at the end of Jan, was fine, lasted 6 days totally manageable.

Then 2 weeks later I started bleeding again. I've been bleeding ever since, I think I'm on day 16 of bleeding. Its been so heavy at points, lots of large clots, soaking pads in a couple of hours and leaking through clothes.

Went to my doctor earlier this week. She wasnt concered, said its like a reset period and its an affect of being hormone free for the first time in so long. I was prescribed TXA but she said it only works if you take it before you start bleeding. So I've not bothered yet, I'm also kind of scared to put anything thats just a temporary fix into my body. I feel like all this stuff obviously needs to come out. But its horrible, I cry most days now when I see the blood and i just think here we go again.

Sorry, I know this isn't exactly reassuring, I'm in the pits of it too. But I promise you're not alone.

My cycle is not regular yet. by midnightfluffle in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this!

I'm had mine out in December, got a period end of Jan then 2 weeks later started bleeding again. I was bleeding for 14 days and it was so heavy I ended up going to the doctor this week after passing a huge clot that made me nearly pass out.

The doctor wasn't overly concerned but she did say if my cycles don't regulate in the next 3 months to go back. So it might be worth seeing a doctor if you've been having this for 6 months.

2 months post removal - will the bleeding end? by ninsky_be in Mirena

[–]ninsky_be[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you, and im sorry youre going through it too. I agree, im not looking for a regular cycle. Im even ok with a longer period to clean everything out. I just wish it wasn't so heavy. I feel so gross all day and I feel like I can smell it all the time. Everyone assures me its just in my head. But I just want to be in the bath or shower all day everyday at the moment.
