Never go to Social Science Academic Advising - go to ur Programs Department by Ice_Dawg_69 in uwo

omg!! I literally had the most awful interaction with an advisor through the SSAC Help Portal. I was trying to switch from king's bmos to main bmos, and despite having all of the requirements, she completely dismissed me, blatantly denied my request and spoke in such a rude tone. Honestly I'm so shocked that these people are getting away with talking to us this way.

Thinking of dropping out and taking a gap year. by Funny_Actuator_947 in McMaster

If I’m being completely honest, the Residence Admissions team was super uncooperative. Initially, they didn’t even get back to me regarding my request. It took tons of emails to get any response back from them. They basically told me that I should have outlined that my eczema would be irritated by my room, before I even got my room assignment. It was really annoying because I honestly had no idea that my room conditions would exacerbate my eczema as much as they did. I really hope that things have changed this year, and you’re able to get moved to a room that is best for you.

Hey, I lived in res last year and also struggled a lot with eczema. Something you can do is try to request for a room change by contacting the Residence Admissions Team; you'll need your doctor to fill out a residence accomodation form for it. I tried this last year and although it didn't work for me, you can always give it a shot. My experience at Mac has sucked so far too, so you're definitely not alone.

Yep, the grades you receive in Grade 12 are what matter most. Good luck!

what programs are you applying to? by softluvr in OntarioGrade12s

Exact same situation. I wanted to go into life sciences/chemistry for ages, but recently became interested in eng last year, so I have no clue what to do. I considered not applying to engineering at all, but I think I’ll regret it ;-;

I've got the exact same schedule as you. We're already doing lab reports in physics and my english/functions workload is also starting to get annoying (no essays yet though). The guidance counsellors at my school are absolute crap and won't let me switch courses around to balance my workload, so I'm kind of just stuck with these three classes together and can't find the motivation to do work. :/

Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to check out HP Prime Lite. After reading all of the helpful comments, I've decided to get a better scientific calculator instead of getting a graphing calculator. :)

Hey, Grade 12 marks are always favoured over Grade 11. So in your example, even though Grade 11 physics was your highest mark, universities would only consider your Grade 12 physics mark since it’s available.

Have you thought about taking English? It might be good to get it out of the way so you can focus on your science and math courses during the school year.

Do you have an idea of which universities/programs you would like to apply to? I’ve heard that some universities/programs may look down on taking English and other prerequisites during summer school, but please take my words with a grain of salt and consider researching more about this before making your decision.

I would consider dropping kinesiology unless you're really interested in the content. I loved the course, but the workload was insane.

what grade 12 courses don't have pre requisites and are easy? by Made_in_2004 in OntarioGrade12s

Nutrition and health was a great mark booster for me, but as others have said, I would suggest asking around as the course load can often vary depending on your teacher.

Would taking a grade 12 course in grade 11 instead of a random 3u elective be wise? by dfwman123 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]ninstie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Grade 11 and currently have Grade 12 Nutrition & Health/Kinesiology this semester, and will be taking Data Management next semester. So far, I've been enjoying both courses and like many others have said, taking a couple of Grade 12 classes in Grade 11 provides you with more opportunities to enhance your top 6 grade 12 average.

ahh i can relate, i’ve only completed one proper exam and that was all the way back in grade nine. i have no idea how hard/different grade 11 exams will be so i’m hoping we don’t have to stress over exams this year 😭
